Tigers Roll Vikes On Senior Day, 9-2
by Randy Gore
In a dominant effort on Senior Day, the North Allegheny boys’ lacrosse team rolled the Central Catholic Vikings on Saturday afternoon, 9-2, at Newman Stadium.
It took the Vikings over 46 minutes of game action before scoring their first goal of the contest, a harmless marker by Adam Dzuban with 1:58 to play. PCC added one last goal from Evan Wade with 18 seconds left to cap the afternoon.
What preceded Central Catholic’s scoring was a one-sided effort by North Allegheny. The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period on goals by senior Sam Porter, sophomore Mason Brown and junior Nick Sichak. From there, the rout was on as Brown and Sichak each totaled hat tricks on the day. Brown, whose three goals give him 17 on the season, was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game. Sichak now has a team-leading 30 goals on the campaign.
In addition to Brown and Sichak’s hat tricks, senior Colman Craft and junior Jack Dimond also tickled the twine to help NA construct a 9-0 lead by the 8:34 mark of the fourth period. In net, senior Logan Lyle and junior Alex Costa both saw action in the victory.
With the win, North Allegheny improves to 6-6 overall, while Central Catholic falls to 6-7. The Tigers look to continue their sharp play heading into Tuesday night’s showdown at Shady Side Academy with the Section 2-3A title at stake.
