An early season match, yes, but a match nonetheless that featured the two teams that had yet to lose in Section 3-4A play took place at Newman Stadium.

North Allegheny continued its strong run, posting a 3-0 shut out over Butler to improve to (5-0-1) in the last six matches.

The Tigers controlled the territorial play for most of the night and had several early chances in the first half. Addison Vrabel slid a shot just wide in the opening minute. Mia Barsotti rattled a shot off the crossbar, and Ella Brinkley added another chance, but none of those attempts found the net.

North Allegheny broke the ice in the 13^th minute, when Meghan Dutkovich sent a shot from the right side from 27-yards out into the far side of the net for a 1-0 Tigers lead.

It was a counterattack that gave North Allegheny a 2-0 cushion. The senior Barsotti raced down the left channel and sent a shot over the goal line for her 2^nd goal of the season in the 36^th minute.

North Allegheny added an insurance marker with the only goal of the second half, courtesy of their leading goal scorer Kieran Shannon. The senior, who had just created a great scoring opportunity on the left wing, remained at the left side of the box, when the Tigers stole the ball and found her at the six. Shannon netted her sixth goal of the season. It was also a milestone goal for the talented forward, as it was the 50^th of her career.

Jordan Beemer started in goal for the Tigers, and Kayla Schwerin relieved her with nine minutes remaining, as the duo shared the clean sheet, the fourth shutout of the season for North Allegheny (5-1-1, 2-0).

The loss dropped the Golden Tornado to (4-2-1, 1-1) and snapped Butler’s three-game winning streak.

With plenty of candidates for the Wright Automotive Player of the Game, it was senior Meghan Dutkovich who garnered the honors. The senior midfielder’s first goal of the year turned out to be the game winner for the Tigers.

It’s a girl’s/boys’ soccer doubleheader on tap for the next action for North Allegheny. The girls will host Peters Township at 3PM, with the North Allegheny boys hosting Allderdice at 6:30PM. Both teams will try and Pack the Pitch, with Middle School Recognition taking place during both matches. The doubleheader will be broadcast live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
