Tigers Sweep Warriors In Non-Section Matchup

The North Allegheny boys’ volleyball team took care of business Wednesday night from UPMC Court, handling Penn-Trafford 3-0 in a non-section clash. The Tigers won by sets scores of 25-10, 25-12 and 25-17.

NA dominated early in the first set, led by juniors Peter Bratich and Will Robertson along with strong play from senior Matthew LaMay who had two aces a kill and a block in the opening frame. Senior Garen White was also instrumental in the first stanza.

In set two, senior Elijah Braun took control, contributing three kills, a block and an ace.  Others standing out in the middle frame included juniors Elliott Swierczynski and Nathan May, along with seniors James Zimmer and Dominic Laswell. Laswell ended the second set with three kills and a block. One of the kills ended the set.

Penn-Trafford showed a little more fight in the third set, but the Tigers maintained control. Major contributors in the final frame included seniors Brandon Goetz, Ryan Dyga and Ryan Young.

LaMay earned Wright Automotive Player of the Game laurels for his efforts on the floor all night. He ended the match with two aces and six digs. Braun had a team-leading eight kills and two aces. Robertson had a team-leading 11 digs. Zimmer led the team with 19 assists while Dyga led with two blocks.

North Allegheny improves to 7-1 overall and is back to section play next Wednesday at home against Moon. The match will be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
