Tigers Take Out Wildcats In Non-Section Match
By: Jared Barton
The North Allegheny girls’ soccer team bounced back from a hard-fought scoreless draw on Monday against Upper St. Clair with a dominant 8-0 performance over Greater Latrobe Wednesday night at Newman Stadium.
The Tigers came out of the gate as the aggressors early and never looked back, controlling nearly all of the offensive zone time in the contest.
North Allegheny took the lead off a corner kick from senior Emma Schupansky when senior Mia Bosley scored with 34:30 left in the first half. Immediately after the first NA substitution, junior Mwende Abai accepted a lead pass into the box and scored to double the lead with 22:35 left in the frame. Junior Bella Montgomery tipped a ball past the Latrobe keeper to make it 3-0 with 15 minutes to play in the half.
The Wildcats’ best scoring chance of the evening took place with just over eight minutes left in the first stanza. Emerson Shine was fouled in the box, leading to a penalty kick opportunity. Shine shot to the left, and a diving stop by junior Jordan Beemer preserved the shutout.

The Tigers added goals from junior Kieran Shannon and senior Avery Ruffus in the early stages of the second half. A late marker by senior Luciana Zagacki and back-to-back scores in the waning minutes from Shannon sealed the deal.

Bosley was named Wright Automotive Player of the Game for her impressive first-half performance. Beemer teamed with sophomore Kayla Schwerin for a combined shutout. Defensively, the Tigers looked strong with backline play from senior Ava Hutter and sophomore Giuliana Bontempo.
