By: Jared Barton
The North Allegheny boys’ lacrosse team earned the first win of the season on the road 11-6 over Pine-Richland Tuesday night. It was a big showing for junior Nick Sichak, who totaled eight points for his most significant offensive outburst in the young season.
The Rams took an early 2-0 lead before the Tigers cracked the scoresheet late in the first quarter on a goal scored by Sichak assisted by fellow junior Johnny Castillo. Sichak and Castillo added unassisted markers to start the second frame and give NA its first lead of the night. Following a late PR marker, senior Sam Porter scored assisted by Sichak to regain the 4-3 lead.
The Tigers scored five straight goals to start the second half including three more tallies from Sichak, another from Porter and a goal from senior Jacob Clarkson. NA held a 9-3 lead into the fourth quarter before PR broke up the scoring streak with about eight minutes left. Late goals from sophomore Mason Brown and senior Colman Craft ended a productive night for the Tigers. Pine-Richland scored the last two goals in the final 1:15.
Sichak officially ended the game with five goals, three assists and five ground balls. Castillo had a goal, four assists and three ground balls. Craft had a goal, four ground balls and a takeaway.
Senior netminder Logan Lyle made seven saves in the win. Senior Jack Ferraro had five ground balls and two takeaways. Junior Luke Rohan had seven faceoff wins.
With the win, NA improves to 1-2 on the season and 1-0 in section play. The Tigers continue section play at home next Tuesday night against North Hills. The North Allegheny Sports Network will have live audio coverage of the contest.
