Tigers Top Tribe For First Section Win
The North Allegheny boys’ volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep at North Hills in Section 2-AAA action. The Tigers triumphed by set scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-13. The victory was not only the first section win of the season for the Tigers but also marked the first win for new head coach Dan Long.
The dawn of a new era of North Allegheny volleyball was aided by the big swings of senior Jax Wilhite and junior Stone Gaertner, who belted out nine and eight kills, respectively. Senior Varun Kaveti added seven kills and posted a team-high three blocks. Junior Theo Wilkinson tallied seven kills and two blocks, while junior Josh Farr contributed a team-leading three aces. On defense, junior Sam Kinzler led with 10 digs. Junior setter Nicolas Carioto dished out a team-best 32 assists and added nine digs.
With the win, North Allegheny improves to 1-1 overall and in section play. The Tigers return to action on Thursday night for a home date with the top-ranked Shaler Titans. The match will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
