Tigers Triumphant In WPIAL Championship Rematch
In a rematch of last year’s WPIAL Class AAA championship, the North Allegheny Tigers once again defeated the Penn-Trafford Warriors with a 3-0 road sweep on Monday night. The matchup featured the last two WPIAL champions and a brother vs. brother matchup as NA head coach Dan Schall faced off against his brother, Penn-Trafford head coach Jim Schall.
North Allegheny won by set scores of 25-10, 25-20 and 25-19. The Tigers were led on offense and defense by senior Canyon Tuman with a team-best 12 kills and team-high eight digs. Senior A.J. Schmidt also had a good all-around night, posting 28 assists, six blocks and three aces. Schmidt led the team in all three categories.
With the win, North Allegheny improves to 11-0 overall. The Tigers will visit second-place Butler on Tuesday night in a Section 2-AAA battle.
