
Tigers Volleyball Pounces On Pine-Richland, 3-1
Courtesy of another extraordinary performance from senior Mitch Higgins, the North Allegheny Boys Volleyball Team defeated the Pine-Richland Rams on Thursday night, 3-1. Higgins had no errors and hit .710 in the match, delivering a team-high 17 kills. Higgins added a career-best six aces.
North Allegheny earned their second straight Section 2-AAA win with set scores of 25-17, 25-27, 25-18 and 25-14. Along with Higgins, senior setter Antonios Balouris had a remarkable night by setting new career highs in assists (42), digs (11) and blocks (4). Other notables included junior Robert Stiefvater who tallied a team-high eight blocks. Senior David Haus added 13 kills and junior Matt Nichol notched four aces.
With the win, North Allegheny improves to 2-0 overall and in section play. Pine-Richland falls to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in Section 2. The Tigers will visit Derry High School on Saturday to take part in the Derry Invitational. Start time is scheduled for 9:00 am.
