
Tigers Win In Comeback Fashion On Day One Of MSLA Tournament

The North Allegheny boys’ lacrosse team overcame an early deficit to beat Moeller 7-5 at Western Reserve Academy Friday in the opening round of the MSLA “C” Bracket tournament.
The Tigers were trailing 5-0 into the second quarter before the offense came to life. With seven minutes left in the first half, senior Colman Craft scored unassisted to cut the lead to 5-1. About 30 seconds later, fellow senior Jack Ferraro found the back of the net, and NA trailed by three heading into the halftime break.
North Allegheny picked up where they left off in the third quarter, with senior Sam Porter tallying his first of the evening assisted by junior Nick Sichak. Junior Johnny Castillo joined the comeback trail, scoring back-to-back goals before the quarter ended. His second marker was assisted by Craft. The game was tied heading into the final stanza.
It took until the end of the fourth, but the Tigers took the first lead of the contest thanks to Porter on a goal assisted by junior Colt Gibson with 3:24 left in regulation. NA added an empty net insurance score with 28 seconds remaining on a hat-trick goal from Porter assisted by Sichak.
Senior Logan Lyle made eight saves in the contest. Craft added five ground balls and two takeaways along with his goal and assist. Senior Jake Burns had two ground balls and two takeaways.
With the win, North Allegheny advances to the “C” Bracket Championship for a matchup against Spire on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. The game will be available via the MSLA live stream.
