WPIAL Champs Sweep Fox Chapel In PIAA First Round

The WPIAL champion North Allegheny Tigers opened the PIAA playoffs with a 3-0 victory over section rival Fox Chapel on Wednesday night.  The Tigers earned the victory by set scores of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-17.

Senior David Haus helped pace NA with a team-high 18 kills and five digs. Ethan DeRubbo collected a team-best 12 digs and setter Antonios Balouris directed the offense with 36 assists. Senior Brendan Brown contributed 11 kills and two blocks.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 20-1 overall and advances to the quarterfinals of the PIAA playoffs. The Tigers will take on District 6 champion State College on Saturday at a site and time to be determined.  For a look at the Class AAA PIAA brackets, click here.
