2003 MATCH SUMMARIES

WAGNER, MORSE MATCH PAR IN VICTORY OVER SEWICKLEY ACADEMY

The Tigers extended their winning streak to four with a 181-189 victory over Sewickley Academy at Diamond Run Golf Course on Wednesday afternoon. Juniors Alex Morse and Steve Wagner both shot 35s to help keep NA unbeaten in the young season. Once again, rain made the course tough resulting in conditions that NA Coach Dede Rittman described as "a quagmire"!  Despite the conditions, the Tiger team was able to perform well. In addition to the scores by Morse and Wagner, three NA golfers shot 37s to insure the victory. Seniors Colin White and Ryan Smith, along with junior Will Corbett, came through as the Tigers picked up a narrow eight-stroke victory. 

The Tigers will be back in action this afternoon when they travel to Butler for an important section match. Starting time at Butler Country Club is scheduled for 3:30 pm.

TIGERS BEAT NEW CASTLE FOR THIRD STRAIGHT SECTION WIN

The Tigers continued to roll in section play as they defeated the New 
Castle Red Hurricanes, 189-197, at the Sylvan Heights Golf Course at New Castle on Tuesday afternoon. Playing on a wet course that was under water in places, senior Ryan Smith captured medallist honors with a 34, one under par, with junior Alex Morse posting a 36. Roger Monaco shot a 37 to lead the 'Canes.The Tigers got good performances from the entire team as five golfers were 
able to complete the course under 40.

 NA will be at home today when they entertain Sewickley Academy in a non-section match. The scheduled starting time for today's match at Diamond Run is 3:30 pm

SMITH LEADS TIGERS OVER NORTH HILLS

Senior Ryan Smith shot a 35 to lead Coach Dede Rittman's Tigers to a 191-205 victory over rival North Hills on Tuesday afternoon at Highland Country Club in a Section 3 contest. Juniors Steve Wagner and Will Corbett both posted 38s as the Tigers won their second straight section win. John Powell took medallist honors for North Hills with a 39.

TIGERS DOWN PINE RICHLAND IN SECTION OPENER, 184-193

The Tigers opened defense of their section title with a 184-193 victory 
over the Pine Richland Rams on Thursday afternoon at Treesdale Golf 
Course. Seniors Colin White and Ryan Smith both posted 34s to lead the 
Tigers. Junior Alex Morse and sophomore Jeff Hinds came through with a 
38 each to help NA to their first section victory.  Mike Van Sickle shot a 35 to earn medallist honors for the Rams, with John Brumberg just a shot behind at 36.

NA will travel to North Hills this afternoon for a Section 3 match against 
their archrivals. Last season, the Tigers defeated the Indians twice in 
section play. Tomorrow, the Tigers will host the Hampton Talbots at 
Diamond Run in a 3:30 pm match.

TIGERS TAKE SECOND IN PETERS TOWNSHIP INVITATIONAL

Sophomore Jeff Hinds and Junior Will Corbett led the Tigers to a second 
place finish in the Peters Township Invitational at Rolling Hills Country 
Club on Monday. Hinds shot a 75 to lead all golfers with Corbett tallying 
a 76 to finish in second place. Senior Colin White posted a 78 for the 
runnerup Tigers. 

Peters Township won the team title. Leading the way for the Indians were 
Jimmy Ellis, Sean Glaser and David Snyder, all shooting a 77. Bobby 
Butler and Chad Warmbein scored 78s for the winners.
