LADY TIGERS BLANK NORTH HILLS, 5-0, FOR EIGHTH STRAIGHT WIN
Coach Jim Sloan's Lady Tigers shut out the North Hills Indians, 5-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the Senior High courts to extend their unbeaten streak to eight. The NA section record improved to 5-0 as the Lady Tigers won in straight sets.
In singles competition, junior Sabrina Smyers led the way with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Carrie Lippert. At #2, senior Christie D'Achille followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win, and at #3, senior Lauren Rosenbeck was a winner in two sets.
The NA doubles teams continued to play well. At #1, junior Anne Wilson and sophomore Molly Moynihan downed Leanne Ganter and Maria Cardone, 6-1 and 6-3. The #2 team of senior Kristin Ambrosino and sophomore Liz Lampe controlled Sam Creighan and Natalie Farinacci, 6-2 and 6-3.

SMYERS NAILS DOWN SECTION SINGLES TITLE
Junior Samantha Smyers defeated Sarah Lynch of Pine-Richland, 6-4, 6-7 (7-3), and 6-1 at the Senior High Courts on Tuesday afternoon to win the Section 2 Singles Championship. Senior Christie D'Achille won the consolation final over Lauren Devos of Hampton, 6-1, 6-0.
Smyers had the #1 seed and was given a bye in the first round. In the quarterfinals, Smyers defeated Blakely Mall of Pine Richland, 10-0. In the semis, the Tiger junior put away Devos, 6-2 and 7-5. D'Achille was the #2 seed and won her quarterfinal match against Sara Longo of Hampton, 10-1. In the semifinals, Lynch defeated D'Achille, 6-2 and 7-5.
Both Smyers and D'Achille will advance to the WPIAL Singles Championships to be held next Monday and Tuesday.

NA ALL OVER ALLDERDICE, 5-0
The Lady Tigers took on the City League Champions from Allderdice and shut out the Dragons, 5-0, on Friday at the Senior High courts. Once again, NA did in style without losing a set to Allderdice. #3 singles senior Lauren Rosenbeck defeate Kate Roth, 6-0, 6-0 to pace the singles' winners. Junior Sabrina Smyers at #1 and junior Anne Wilson at #2 won in straight sets.
The doubles teams also won in straight sets. At #1, senior Kristen Ambrosino and sophomore Molly Moynihan defeated Sarah Weslowski and Diana Kitsio, 6-0 and 6-3. The #2 team of junior Suzi Urish and sophomore Liz Lampe also were victorious by scores of 6-0 and 6-3.
The victory improved the NA overall record to 7-0 on the season. The Lady Tigers will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when they host archrival North Hills at the Senior High courts. Match time is scheduled for 3:30 pm.

LADY TIGERS WIN SIXTH IN A ROW
Coach Jim Sloan's Lady Tigers stayed unbeaten with a 5-0 victory at Shaler on Thursday afternoon. Once again, NA did not lose a set in posting their fourth section win, sixth overall. In singles play, #1 junior Sabrina Smyers won in two sets, losing only one game. Senior Christie D'Achille followed suit with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Nicole Yallum at #2. Senior Lauren Rosenbeck won in straight sets at #3.
The doubles teams were not challenged. At #1, junior Anne Wilson and sophomore Molly Moynihan took a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Kate Brennan and Erin Dedig. Playing at #2 doubles, senior Kristen Ambrosino and sophomore Liz Lampe won in straight sets, losing only one game.
The Lady Tigers return to action this afternoon when they host Allderdice from the Pittsburgh City League. Match time is scheduled for 3:30 pm at the Senior High courts.

LADY TIGERS DEFEAT BUTLER AND HAMPTON
The Lady Tigers were victorious over Butler in a section match and Hampton in a non-section contest during the past week. NA defeated Butler, 4-1, last Thursday at Butler with junior Sabrina Smyers and senior Christie D'Achille both winning in straight sets without losing a game.
On Tuesday, Hampton fell to the Lady Tigers, 5-0, on the Senior High courts. Once again, the singles' trio coasted, winning in straight sets. The doubles' teams were tested, however, but came through with straight set victories.

SENECA VALLEY FALLS TO LADY TIGERS, 5-0
The Lady Tigers shut out Seneca Valley, 5-0, on Wednesday afternoon in a non-section match at the Senior High courts. Junior Sabrina Smyers won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, to pace NA. The Lady Tigers did not lose a set on the way to their third consecutive victory.
Senior Christie D'Achille and junior Suzy Urish won at #2 and 3 singles. At #1 doubles, junior Anne Wilson and sophomore Molly Moynihan were victorious over Veronica DelGreco and Danielle Millett, 6-1 and 6-2. The #2 doubles team of senior Kristen Ambrosino and sophomore Liz Lampe shut out Brittany Johnson and Mindy McClaskey.
The Lady Tigers will travel to Butler this afternoon for a section match against the Tornado. Match time is scheduled for 3:30 pm.

Coach Jim Sloan's Lady Tigers opened defense of their section crown with a 4-1 victory at Pine-Richland on Tuesday afternoon. At #1 singles, junior Sabrina Smyers defeated Sarah Lynch, 1-6, 6-2, and 6-0 while senior Christie D'Achille won in two sets over Blakely Mall at the #2 singles position.
In doubles play, the #1 team of junior Anne Wilson and sophomore Molly Moynihan won in straight sets as did the #2 team of senior Kristin Ambrosino and sophomore Liz Lampe. The win improved the NA record to 1-0 in section, 2-0 overall. The Lady Tigers will host Seneca Valley in a non-section match this afternoon at the Senior High courts. Match time is scheduled for 3:30 pm.

NA BLANKS FRANKLIN REGIONAL IN OPENER
The Lady Tigers opened the 2004 season in impressive fashion with a 5-0 victory over Franklin Regional on Monday afternoon at the Senior High courts. All three NA singles players won in straight sets with junior Sabrina Smyers winning over Jen Russo at #1 without losing a game, 6-0, 6-0.
The doubles teams also won in straight sets. At the #1 doubles position, junior Anne Wilson and sophomore Molly Moynihan were victorious by scores of 6-3 and 6-0. At #2, senior Kristin Ambrosino and Liz Lampe won by a count of 6-2 and 6-1.
