TIGER TEAMS ROLL OVER KNOCH IN SECTION MEET
Tigers Split with Canon-McMillan, Tiger Boys Edge Cathedral Prep

Meet Results

On Monday, the Tiger teams engaged in a multiple meet at Newman Stadium.  In the section meet, the Tiger teams easily defeated Knoch.  The boys' team downed the Knights, 116-34, while the Lady Tigers dominated Knoch also, 114-36.  In a non-section meet, the boys defeated Canon-McMillan, 106.5-43.5, but the Lady Tigers were defeated by the Big Macs, 82 1/3 to 67 2/3.  In a boys' meet, the Tigers edged by Cathedral Prep, defeating the Ramblers, 77-63.

In the section meet against Knoch, junior Nick Henderson led the way with first place finishes in the 400, high jump and long jump.  Senior Dan Boada won the 200, senior Steve Wize captured the 800, senior Andrew McMillen won the shot and senior Colin Moleton was first in the javelin.  Juniors contributed to the win with Billy Knight taking the 100, John Boujoukos winning the 1600, Max Brown the 3200 and Adam Hambrick the discus.  Sophomore Sean Gil won the pole vault.  Although we have incomplete results for the Lady Tigers' meet, the following were winners:  sophomore Kelly Langhans in both the 200 and 400, sophomore Jade Hambrick in both the shot and discus, junior Lindsay Appel in the 100, junior Michelle Diez in the 800, sophomore Kelley O'Brien in the 1600, sophomore Shannon Fusina in the 100 hurdles, Jackie Sokulski in the 3200, sophomore Kristen Beatty in the javelin, and Kristen Kozak in the high jump (tie.)

In the win against the Canon-McMillan boys, double winners included Dan Boada in the 110 hurdles and 200, junior Nick Henderson in both the 400 and high jump.  Taking first place points were senior Steve Wize in the 800, senior Andrew McMillen in the shot put, and senior Colin Moleton in the javelin.  Junior winners were John Boujoukos in the 1600, Max Brown in the 3200, and Adam Hambrick in the discus.  Sophomore Sean Gil was first in the pole vault.  For the Lady Tigers, two sophomores were double winners --- Jade Hambrick in the shot and discus and Maura Higgins in the long and high jumps.  Junior Kelley O'Brien won the 1600 and junior Michelle Diez took the 800.  Other sophomore winners were Kelly Langhans in the 400, Kristen Kozak in the high jump, and Kristen Zeleznik in the pole vault.

In the boys win over Erie Cathedral Prep, the Tigers won 11 of 18 events.  Junior Nick Henderson was the only double winner, taking both the high and long jumps.  Senior Dan Boada won the 110 hurdles, senior Andrew McMillen the shot put, and senior Colin Moleton the javelin.  Junior winners for NA were John Boujoukos in the 1600, Max Brown in the 3200, Adam Hambrick in the discus while sophomore Sean Gil was first in the pole vault.

The Tiger teams will compete in the Butler Invitational this weekend.  On Friday afternoon, the boys' meet will be held with events scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm.  On Saturday morning, the girls' meet is scheduled to start at 9:00 am.

TIGER TEAMS TAKE IT TO NORTH HILLS

Meet Results

Both Tiger teams were victorious over North Hills on Thursday afternoon at North Hills.  The boys' team remained unbeaten with a 99-46 victory over the Indians while the Lady Tigers defeated North Hills, 98-52.

The boys' squad won 12 of 17 events contested in picking up the victory.  On the track, senior Dan Boada led the way with victories in both hurdles and a third in the 200.  Junior Max Brown captured both the 1600 and 800 while junior Nick Henderson was first in the 400 and second in both the long and high jumps.  In other field events, senior Andrew McMillen took both the shot and the discus again, senior Colin Moleton won the javelin, sophomore Sean Gil was first in the pole vault and freshman Geoff Greco captured the long jump.

The Tigers came through with seven second-place finishes.  Junior Bill Knight was second in both the 100 and 200 while sophomore Garrett Larkin took second in the shot and third in the discus.  Senior John Woodruff picked up a second in the 400 while junior Adam Hambrick was second in the discus and junior Kevin Kovatch third in the pole vault.

Third-place points came from senior Steve Wize in the 800, senior Wade Wolowiec in the shot, juniors Steve Spagnol in the 300 hurdles, Steve Richard in the high jump and Pat Baxter in the 3200.  Sophomore Mark Sestini finished third in the triple jump.  The Tiger 3200 and 1600 relay teams won their races.

The Lady Tigers won 10 of the 18 contested events, including all three relays.  Sophomore Kelly Langhans led the way on the track with victories in both the 400 and 200.  Junior Lindsay Appel captured the 100 while sophomore Marissa Butler won the 800.  In the field, sophomore Jade Hambrick won both the shot put and the discus while sophomore Kristen Kozak took the high jump.

The depth of the girls' team piled up points for the Tigers as they recorded 12 second place finishes and 8 thirds.  Sophomore Shannon Fusina was busy with seconds in both hurdles and thirds in the long and triple jumps.  Senior Lindsay Schmiedel took second in the 800 and third in the 1600 while junior Kelley O'Brien was finishing second in the 1600.  Kara Carothers captured second in the 100.  In the field, sophomore Maura Higgins took second in both the long and triple jumps with freshman Ginny Thistle finishing second in both the shot and discus.  Sophomore Kristen Beatty was second in the javelin, sophomore Samantha Norris took second in the high jump, and sophomore Kristen Zeleznik second in the pole vault.  

Third-place finishes were recorded by senior Katie Elmore in the 200, freshman Grace Concelman in the 300 hurdles, freshman Brittany Antonucci in the 800, freshman Sydney Schwab in the javelin, and freshman Maria Nolan in the high jump.

The win improved the boys' record to 6-0 while the girls improved to 5-1 on the season.  The Tiger teams will be in action again on Tuesday when they host the Knoch Knights at Newman Stadium.  Meet time is scheduled for 3:30 pm.

TIGER TEAMS ROLL OVER SHALER

Meet Results

Both Tiger track and field teams defeated Shaler on Tuesday afternoon at Newman Stadium.  In the boys' meet, NA prevailed by a 118-32 score while the Lady Tigers dominated the Titans, 99-51. 

In the boys' meet, the Tigers won 16 of the 18 events.  Senior Dan Boada won both hurdles and senior Andrew McMillen took both the shot put and the discus to pace the Tigers.  Junior Nick Henderson was first in both the high and long jumps in addition to a second place in the javelin.  Junior Billy Knight won the 100, took second in the pole vault, junior Max Brown captured the 1600, and junior John Boujoukos won the 800.  Senior John Woodruff won the 400, junior Kevin Kovatch took the pole vault and senior Colin Moleton was first again in the javelin.  Moleton recently set an NA school record in the javelin.

Once again, the Tiger depth showed as they recorded seven second place finishes and nine thirds.  Junior Adam Hambrick was second in the discus and third in the shot put while sophomore Garrett Larkin took second in the shot and third in the discus.  Freshman Geoff Greco was strong again with seconds in both the long and high jumps and a third in the high jump.  Senior Steve Wize captured second in the 400, junior Pat Baxter finished second in the 3200 and senior Grant Butson was second in the high jump.

Taking third place points for NA were junior Steve Spagnol in both hurdles, Pat Morgan in the 1600, senior Bobby Polley in the javelin, sophomore Mark Sestini in the triple jump and sophomore Sean Gil in the pole vault.  

The Tiger relay teams won all three races.  In the 1600, the team of Jacob Beatty, Collin Burry, Nathan Carlin and Steve Wize was too much for the Titans.

The Lady Tigers captured 13 of the 18 events on their way to the 99-51 victory.  Sophomore Shannon Fusina led the way with wins in both hurdles along with third place finishes in both the long and triple jumps.  Junior Kelley O'Brien captured both long distance races while  sophomore Kelly Langhans was first in the 400, second in the 200 and third in the 100.  In the field, sophomore Jade Hambrick won both the shot and the discus while sophomore Maura Higgins took the long and triple jumps.  Sophomore Kristen Kozak was first in the high jump and second in the triple jump.  Sophomore Kristen Beatty captured the javelin and sophomore Kristen Zeleznik took first in the pole vault.  The Lady Tiger 1600 meter relay was first.

Senior Lindsay Schmiedel was second in the 1600 and third in the 800.  Junior Lindsay Appel finished second in the 1000 while junior Michelle Diez took second in the 400.  Senior Katie Elmore was third in the 200 and second in the long jump.  In other field events, sophomore Samantha Norris was second in the high jump while freshman Sydney Schwab took a second in the javelin.

Third-place points were earned by freshman Laura Ochs in both the 1600 and 3200, freshman Ginny Thistle in both the shot and discus, and freshman Grace Concelman in the 300 high hurdles.

The boys' squad remains undefeated after five meets while the girls' team improved to 4-1.  The Tiger teams will be back in action again tomorrow afternoon when they travel to North Hills to meet the Indians in a section meet.  The scheduled starting time is set for 3:30 pm.

TIGER TEAMS HAMMER HAMPTON

Meet Results

Both the boys' and girls' teams won big victories at Hampton on Thursday afternoon.  The boys' team defeated the Talbots, 107-43, while the Lady Tigers dominated Hampton, 105-45.  With the win, the boys' team remained undefeated with a record of 4-0 while the girls' squad improved to 3-1.

The boys' team won 15 of 18 events on their way to the victory.  Freshman Geoff Greco had a successful meet with three first place finishes --- high jump, long jump, and triple jump --- and a second in the 110 hurdles.  Senior Andrew McMillen took both the shot and discus, senior Colin Moleton won the javelin and sophomore Sean Gil captured the pole vault as NA dominated the field events.  On the track, senior Dan Boada was a double winner with firsts in the 110 hurdles and the 200.  Junior Max Brown also doubled winning the 300 and 3200.  Senior Bill Knight took the 100 and was second in the pole vault while senior Steve Wize won the 400 and took third in the 800.

Junior John Boujoukos won second place points in both the 1600 and 800 with sophomore Nick Severyn taking second in the 400.  In the field, sophomore Garrett Larkin was second in the shot and third in the discus.  Junior Adam Hambrick finished second in the discus and junior Steve Richard was third in the triple jump.  Earning third place points for the Tigers were senior Jeremy Honhold in the 1600, junior Pat Baxter in the 3200, senior Bobby Polley in the javelin and junior Kevin Kovatch in the pole vault.

Two Tiger relay teams won their events.  In the 3200 relay, the team of Wize, junior Collin Burry, Pat Morgan, and Brown took first while in the 1600, it was Boada, Severyn, Boujoukos, and Wize coming in first.

The Lady Tigers won 14 of the 18 events in dominating the Talbots.  NA dominated the field events with sophomore Jade Hambrick winning both the shot and discus while sophomore Maura Higgins was a double winner in the long and triple jumps.  Freshman Sydney Schwab took the javelin and sophomore Kristen Zeleznik won the pole vault.  On the track, freshman Grace Concelman won the 100 hurdles and came in second in the 300 hurdles with freshman Aisha Moore winning the 200 and finishing third in the 400.  Junior Kelley O'Brien captured the 1600, sophomore Kelly Langhans won the 400, and senior Lindsay Schmiedel was first in the 800.

The Tiger depth was able to score numerous second place points.  Freshman Ginny Thistle was second in both the shot and discus, with sophomore Kristen Kozak finishing second in the high jump, freshman Brittney Bergman second in the long jump and senior Vickie Barger in the triple jump.  On the track, freshman Laura Ochs was second in the 1600 and third in the 3200.  Sophomore Marissa Butler came in second in the 400.

A number of Lady Tigers also picked up third place points --- freshman Jackie Silver in the 100, sophomore Megan Hartwig in the 300 hurdles, sophomore Brooke Carmen in the 800, freshman Pam Beattie in the 200, freshman Maria Nolan in the high jump and freshman Cecily Sunday in the triple jump. 

All three Lady Tiger relay teams were victorious.  In the 3200 relay, the team of O'Brien, junior Michelle Sauer, junior Sarah LeDonne and Schmiedel came in first.  At 400, it was Concelman, Beattie, Nolan and freshman Brittany Antonucci defeating the Talbots.  In the 1600 race, Butler, Sauer, Concelman and Langhans were too much for Hampton.

The Tiger teams return home on Tuesday when they host the Shaler Titans in a section meet at Newman Stadium.  Meet time is scheduled for 3:30 pm.

TIGERS RIP SENECA VALLEY, LADY TIGERS FALL TO RAIDERS

Meet Results

The boys' track and field team easily defeated Seneca Valley, 110-40, at Seneca Valley on Tuesday afternoon.  The Lady Tigers were edged by the Raiders, 77-73, for their first loss of the season.  The boys' record improved to 3-0 on the year.

The boys' team won 15 of 18 events in the victory over the Raiders.  Senior Dan Boada won both hurdles races with senior Andrew McMillen taking first in both the shot and the discus.  Junior Max Brown captured both the 1600 and 800 with junior John Boujoukos making it a sweep of the distance events with a first in the 3200.  Junior Billy Knight won the 100 and took second in the pole vault.  Sophomore Sean Gil won the pole vault as the Tigers dominated the field events.  Junior Nick Henderson was first in the long jump and second in the high jump, junior Steve Richard won the triple jump, and senior Colin Moleton won the javelin.

Junior Pat Baxter was second in the 3200 and third in the 1600 with Pat Morgan taking second in both the 1600 and 800.  Geoff Greco was second in the triple jump along with a third-place finish in the 110 hurdles.  Junior Adam Hambrick picked up a second in the discus and a third in the shot while sophomore Garrett Larkin was second in the shot and third in the discus.  Third-place points were won by senior Steve Wize in the 400, senior Bobby Polley in the javelin and junior Kevin Kovatch in the pole vault.

The Lady Tigers won seven of the eighteen events in dropping the close 77-73 decision to Seneca.  Senior Lindsay Schmiedel led NA with a first in the 1600, second in the 800 and third in the 3200.  Junior Michelle Diez won the 800 and captured second in the 400.  Junior Kelley O'Brien was first in the 3200.  In the field, sophomore Maura Higgins won both the long and triple jumps, sophomore Jade Hambrick took the discus and was second in the shot put, and sophomore Kristen Zeleznik won the pole vault.

Sophomore Kelly Langhans was second in both the 100 and 200, sophomore Shannon Fusina took second in the 100 hurdles, and Grace Concelman was second in the high hurdles.  In the field, Ginny Thistle was second in the discus and third in the shot put while Sydney Schwab took second in the javelin.

The Lady Tigers picked up third-place points from a number of runners --- Laura Ochs in the 1600, junior Michelle Sauer in the 400, sophomore Marissa Butler in the 800, and senior Katie Elmore in the 200.  In the field, sophomore Kristen Kozak took third in the triple jump and sophomore Kristen Beatty was third in the javelin.

The Tiger teams will travel to Hampton on Thursday afternoon for a section meet.  The scheduled starting time is set for 3:30 pm.

TIGER BOYS FINISH SECOND AT TRI-STATE COACHES INVITATIONAL

Meet Results

The Tigers scored 58 points to finish in second place behind West Mifflin in the boys' division of the 43rd Annual Tri-State Coaches Association Outdoor Championships on Saturday.  On a cold and rainy spring day, junior Max Brown took first place in the 1600 to pace NA.  Junior Billy Knight was second in the 100 along with the 4x400 relay team.  Senior Andrew McMillen took 3rd in the discus and 4th in the shot with senior Colin Moleton finishing 3rd in the javelin.  Three Tigers earned 5th place finishes --- senior John Woodruff in the 400, junior John Boujoukos in the 1600 and sophomore Garrett Larkin in the shot put.

The Lady Tigers finished in 6th place with junior Michelle Diez leading the way with a second place in the 800.  Senior Lindsay Schmiedel was 4th in the 800.  Sophomore Jade Hambrick took 3rd in the discus and 5th in the shot while sophomore Shannon Fusina captured 4th in the high hurdles.  The relay teams all placed in the top six --- the 4x100 was 6th, the 4x400 was 3rd, and the 4x800 finished 4th.

The Tiger teams will be back in action again on Tuesday when they travel to Seneca Valley for a section meet.  The scheduled starting time is set for 3:30 pm.

TIGER TEAMS ROLL OVER PINE-RICHLAND

Meet Results

Both the boys' and girls' track and field teams easily defeated the PIne-Richland Rams in the section opener at Newman Stadium on Thursday afternoon.  The boys' team crushed the Rams, 129-21, while the Lady Tigers were victorious by a 98-52 score.  The wins were the second straight for the Tiger teams.

The boys' team dominated the meet, winning 17 of 18 events.  Senior Andrew McMillen led the way with wins in both the shot put and discus.  Geoff Greco won the triple jump, took 2nd in the long triple and third in the high jump.  Junior Steve Spagnol won the 110 hurdles and was second in the high hurdles, junior Billy Knight won the 100 and took second in the pole vault, and junior John Boujoukos won the 1600  and captured second in the 800.  Senior John Woodruff won the 200  and was second in the 100 while junior Nick Henderson won the long jump and took second in the high jump.  Four Tiger seniors won events --- Steve Wize was first in the 400, Dan Boada in the 300 hurdles, Grant Butson in the 800 and Colin Moleton in the javelin.  Junior Pat Baxter took the 3200 meter run while sophomore Sean Gil captured the pole vault.

Sophomore Garrett Larkin was second in the shot and third in the discus.  NA got second place points from Pat Morgan in the 1600, sophomore Nick Severyn in the 400, junior Adam Hambrick in the discus and senior Bobby Polley in the pole vault.  Adding third-place points for the Tigers were senior Jeremy Honhold in the 1600, Nick Evers in the 110 hurdles, senior Matt Savory in the 800, Zack Watts in the 200, sophomore Brendan Leard in the javelin and Adryan Johnson in the triple jump.

The three Tiger relay teams all captured first place.  In the 3200 relay, Savory, Morgan, Butson, and Wize comprised the winning team while in the 1600 relay, it was Woodson, Wize, Henderson, and Severyn running to the gold.

The Lady Tigers were able to win 11 of the 18 events.  Leading the way was sophomore Maura Higgins who won both the long jump and triple jump and finished third in the pole vault.  Junior Michelle Diez was a double winner, taking both the  400 and 800.  Sophomore Jade Hambrick was first in the discus and second in the shot.  Senior Lindsay Schmiedel won the 1600, junior Kelley O'Brien was first in the 3200 and sophomore Melissa Kozak won the high jump.

NA piled up second place points led by senior Katie Elmore who placed second in both the 200 and long jump.  Jackie Silver was second in the 100 and third in the 200 while sophomore Shannon Fusina had second place finishes in both the 100 hurdles and triple jump.  Adding second-place points were Laura Ochs in the 1600, junior Michelle Sauer in the 400, junior Sarah LeDonne in the 800, Jaclyn Sokulski in the 3200 and sophomore Samantha Norris in the high jump.

Third place finishes went to sophomore Brooke Carmen in both the 800 and 1600, Pam Beattie in the 100, sophomore Marissa Butler in the 400, Ginny Thistle in the shot, Heather Sumpter in the discus, senior Kelly Cordero in the javelin and freshman Maria Nolan in the high jump.

All three NA relay teams finished first.  In the 3200 relay, Schmiedel, LeDonne, Claire Kairys, and Diez comprised the winning team.  Fusina, Elmore, Higgins, and Silver ran to gold in the 400 relay while Sauer, Aisha Moore, Butler, and Elmore made up the 1600 team.

The Tiger teams will be in action again tomorrow at the Tri-State Invitational at West Mifflin.  Action is scheduled to get under way at 8:30 am.

TIGER TEAMS DOMINATE MT. LEBANON IN SEASON OPENER

Meet Results

The boys' and girls' track and field teams defeated Mt. Lebanon in the season opener at Newman Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.  The boys' team defeated Lebo, 110-40, while the Lady Tigers outscored the Blue Devils, 100-50.

In the boys' meet, the Tigers won 15 of the 18 events.  Junior Nick Henderson led the way with three firsts, winning the 200, the high jump, and the long jump.  Senior Andrew McMillan won both the shot and the discus, while junior Billy Knight won the 100 and was second in the pole vault.  Senior Steve Wize captured the 400, senior Dan Boada was first in the 300 high hurdles, while senior Colin Moleton won the javelin.  Junior Pat Baxter took the 3200 meter run with Pat Morgan winning the 1600.  Sophomore Sean Gil won the pole vault.

Geoff Greco captured points by taking second in both the high jump and triple and third in the long jump.  Junior Steve Spagnol came in second in the 100 hurdles and third in the high hurdles while sophomore Garrett Larkin was second in the shot and third in the discus.  Second place points were earned by senior John Woodruff in the 200, junior Adam Hambrick in the discus, senior Bobby Polley in the javelin, and Zach Watts in the 200.   

Earning third-place points were senior Jeremy Honhold in the 1600, junior Kevin Kovatch in the pole vault, sophomore Tom Gilmartin in the 3200, sophomore Brendan Learn in the javelin, and Tom Dragan in the high jump.

The Lady Tigers also dominated, winning 14 of 18 events in the 100-50 victory.  Sophomore Maura Higgins was a triple winner, taking the long jump, triple jump, and the pole vault.  Sophomore Shannon Fusina won the 100 hurdles while taking second in both the 300 hurdles and the triple jump.  Sophomore Jade Hambrick won both the shot put and the discus while senior Katie Elmore won the 200 and placed second in the long jump.  Junior Michelle Diez captured the 800, sophomore Kelly Langhans the 400, sophomore Kristen Kozak the high jump, and Sydney Schwab the javelin.

Jackie Silver finished second in the 100 and third in the 200 for the Lady Tigers to pick up valuable points.  Garnering second-place points were senior Lauren Lorenzi in the 3200, Cyedha Banks in the high jump and Kristen Graf in the pole vault.

A number of Lady Tigers earned third-place points.  Senior Lindsay Schmiedel finished third in the 1600, junior Michelle Sauer place third in the 800, while sophomore Alex Falvo was third in the 3200.  Sophomore Marissa Butler captured third in the 400, Pam Beattie was third in the 100, with sophomore Melissa Kozak taking third in the shot, Natalie Martin third in the pole vault, and Samantha Norris third in the high jump

The Tigers will host Pine-Richland this afternoon at Newman Stadium in the section opener.  The starting time for the meet is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
