To listen to a replay of the game, click here!

The Lady Tigers scored the first six goals of the game on their way to a 14-3 victory over Hampton on Senior Night at Newman Stadium on Thursday evening.  Leading the way for NA were seniors were Laura Seward with three goals and two assists and Meghan Coleman who scored three times.  Senior Laura Peery added a pair of goals for the winning Lady Tigers.

Senior Lara Siminerio got the Lady Tigers off and running with a goal just 1:22 into the contest after a long run.  Seward scored her first goal of the game just 1:07 later to give NA a 2-0 early advantage.  Junior Whitney Wilson scored on a free shot after a Hampton penalty to increase the lead to 3-0.  Another Talbot penalty gave Coleman a free opportunity and she converted at the 6:21 mark to make it a 4-0 NA lead.  Seward tallied her second goal at the 8:55 mark and then set up senior Kaitlyn Cotter in front of the Hampton net for the sixth Tiger goal as NA took a 6-0 lead with 10:45 remaining.  Kristine Sherred got Hampton on the board but Peery answered after a pass from Coleman sent her in alone on Hampton goalie Melissa Tolomeo.  Seward scored her third goal with 5:19 left in the half to make it an 8-1 Lady Tiger lead.  Coleman finished off the first half scoring with two goals in the last 21 seconds, the second on a backhand shot with just one second left in the half.  The teams went to the intermission with NA holding a commanding 10-1 advantage.

Neither team scored in the early going in the second half as Coach Harry Datz substituted liberally and had players switching positions.  With 9:26 gone, sophomore Alexa Jennings scored on a free shot to push the margin to 11-1 and the mercy rule kicked in allowing the clock to keep running.  After Bailey Buzzato brought Hampton back to an 11-2 deficit, Peery made a nice move coming out from behind the net and scoring on an overhead shot to push it back to ten at 12-2.  After Amanda Zehmisch scored with 6:41 remaining, sophomore Christy Sisko scored her first goal of the season to make it 13-3 at the 19:20 mark.  Sophomore Chelsea Cameron finished the scoring with a rocket shot from 12 yards out as the Lady Tigers went on to a 14-3 victory.  Senior Jean Walton was sent up front to try to get her first goal and had several good opportunities but could not finish.

It was a good team victory for NA on Senior Night.  The Lady Tigers showed an outstanding passing attack that allowed them to control the game and go on to the easy victory.  Senior goalie Amanda Chipman stopped 8 of 11 shots to earn the victory.  For her efforts on offense, the North Allegheny Sports Network selected Senior Laura Seward as the Player of the Game.

The victory was the third straight for the Lady Tigers and improved their overall record to 7-8 on the season.  The Lady Tigers  will conclude their home season on Monday when they host Peters Township at Newman Stadium.  Game time is scheduled for 7:30 pm.

JV UPDATE: The JV team remained unbeaten with a 10-0 victory over Hampton.  Scoring for the Lady Tigers were Laura Nelson (4), Megan Litterini (2), Dana Spellman (2), Michelle Wetzel, and Emily Rosenzweig.  Angela Smarto stopped all four Hampton shots to earn the shut out.

SIMINERIO'S FOUR GOALS TOO MUCH FOR VINCENTIAN, 10-6

To listen to a replay of the game, click here!

Led by senior Lara Siminerio's four goals, the Lady Tigers outscored Vincentian, 10-6, on Thursday night at Newman Stadium in a Section 1 contest.  Sophomore Chelsea Cameron added a pair of tallies and picked up two assists as NA never trailed.  Senior Meghan Coleman, sophomore Strealy Clark, and sophomore Alexa Jennings scored the other NA goals.

The Tigers scored early when Coleman broke loose on the right side and beat Vincentian goalie Julie Ricciuto to give NA a 1-0 lead.  Both teams played well early in the half and had scoring chances.  Siminerio made it 2-0 when she got through the Royals defense with 15:17 remaining.  Vincentian answered when Kierstan Kuhlman came from behind the net to score the first of her three goals to cut the margin to 2-1.  Siminerio scored her second goal on a nice feed from Cameron to increase the lead to 3-1 at the 14:43 mark.  Cameron scored from along the goal line 26 seconds later with Peery getting the assist as NA increased the lead to 4-1.  Kuhlman cut the lead in half with 7:30 remaining, but there was no further scoring before the intermission.  The Lady Tigers held a 4-2 advantage at halftime.

Cameron scored her second goal just 52 seconds into the second half when senior Laura Seward found her open in front of the Royals' goal.  Maureen Mullin cut the lead to 5-3 when she put in a rebound at the 4:13 mark.  Siminerio answered just 29 seconds later when she scored a spectacular leaping goal on a pass from behind the Vincentian net.   Caitlin Hawkins brought the Royals within two at 6-4 when she scored on a free shot at the 7:32 mark.  Siminerio was able to answer when she scored her fourth goal of the game, also on a free shot, to restore the lead to three at 7-4.  Vincentian kept battling back, however, and Zoe Lauro put in a left-handed shot that went over the right shoulder of senior goalie Amanda Chipman.  It didn't take long for the Lady Tigers to come back.  After the faceoff win by NA, Siminerio hit Strealy Clark with a perfect pass and Clark converted to push the NA lead back to three again at 8-5.  The quick goal seemed to deflate Vincentian as the Lady Tigers scored the next two goals to take control of the contest.  Peery made a nice run from the left side and scored with a high shot into the corner of the net.  Jennings then scored from long range with 5:08 remaining to give NA a 10-5 advantage.  Kuhlman was able to run through the entire NA team to score the game's final goal with just 18 seconds left, but it was too little, too late.  The Lady Tigers came away with an important 10-6 section win.

The Tigers played a consistent ball control game, fast breaking in transition when the opportunity was there.  Chipman was solid in the net stopping a number of free shot opportunities by the Royals.  For her four-goal performance, the North Allegheny Sports Network selected Lara Siminerio as the Player of the Game.

The win was the third in four games for the Lady Tigers and improved their overall record to 4-6 on the season.  NA will travel to Seneca Valley on Tuesday for a section contest.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
