BOYS' GOLF SHALER NO MATCH FOR TIGERS IN 193-239 ROUT Senior Troy Novak shot an even par 36 at the Pittsburgh National GC on Tuesday afternoon to lead the Tigers to an easy 193-239 section victory over Shaler. Senior Zack Wessel added a 38 and junior Alex Hendrickson a 39 as the Tigers won their sixth match with just one lost in the last seven. With the win, NA improved their section record to 6-2, the overall mark to 8-2 on the season. The Tigers will host Northgate and Shady Side Academy in a tri-match this afternoon at Diamond Run with match time scheduled for 3:30 pm. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS STOP NEW CASTLE, 202-239 The Tigers got back on the winning track on Monday afternoon with a 202-239 victory over New Castle at Sylvan Heights GC. Senior Troy Novak had a one under par on the Front 9 Par 36 course. Senior Jake Wrigley posted a 39 and junior Alex Hendrickson a 41 for the winning Tigers. With the win, the NA section mark improved to 5-2, the overall record to 7-2 on the year. NA will travel to Pittsburgh National GC this afternoon for a 2:40 section match against Shaler. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BUTLER EDGES TIGERS, 202-205 The Tigers dropped a close 202-205 decision to Butler at Butler Country Club on Friday afternoon. Senior Zack Wessel led NA with a 37 while senior Troy Novak and junior Clif Dietrick recorded 40s but it was not enough as Butler captured the match by just three strokes. With the loss, the Tigers fell to 4-2 in section, 6-2 overall on the season. NA will travel to Sylvan Heights GC on Monday afternoon to face New Castle in the makeup of a section match postponed by weather back on August 28. Match time is scheduled for 3:00 pm. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS TOP NORTH HILLS, 195-201, Seniors Zack Wessel and Jake Wrigley both shot two-over 37s at Highland CC on Wednesday afternoon to lead the Tigers to a 195-201 victory over rival North Hills. Junior Christian Tambellini added a 39 with senior Troy Novak and freshman John McCabe recording 41s for the winning Tigers. With the win, NA improved their section record to 4-1, the overall mark to 6-1 on the season. The Tigers will travel to Butler CC tomorrow afternoon to meet the Tornado in a 3:30 pm section match. * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS EDGE SENECA VALLEY, 198-204 The Tigers won their third section match against just one loss with a 198-204 victory over Seneca Valley at Cranberry Highlands GC on Thursday afternoon. Seniors Zack Wessel and Troy Novak led with way with 38s while freshman John McCabe was close behind with a 39. With the win, the Tigers improved to 3-1 in section play, 5-1 overall. Next up for the Tigers will be a meeting with rival North Hills at Highland CC on Wednesday afternoon. Match time is scheduled for 3:30 pm. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS WIN TWO WITH VICTORIES OVER NEW CASTLE AND FRANKLIN REGIONAL The Tigers were victorious over both New Castle and Franklin Regional in a tri match at Diamond Run Golf Club on Wednesday afternoon. In the section match against New Castle, NA took a 197-266 victory while in the non-section contest, the Tigers won by a 197-208 score. Junior Clif Dietrick earned medalist honors with a two over 37 with senior Jake Wrigley close behind with a 38. With the wins, NA improved to 2-1 in section, 4-1 overall on the season. The Tigers will travel to Seneca Valley to meet the Raiders in a 3:30 pm section match at Cranberry Highland GC. MATCH SUMMARIES
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * PINE-RICHLAND HANDS TIGERS FIRST LOSS, 187-203 The Tigers dropped their first match of the season on Tuesday afternoon as Pine-Richland defeated NA, 187-203, in a section contest at Treesdale Country Club. Junior Clif Dietrick led NA with a one over 36. John Matune also posted a 36 to pace the Rams. With the loss, the NA section record fell to 1-1, the overall mark to 2-1. The Tigers will host a tri match this afternoon at Diamond Run as they take on New Castle in a section meeting and Franklin Regional in a non-section match. Tee off time is scheduled for 3:30 pm. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS STOP HAMPTON, 191-206, FOR SECOND WIN The Tigers traveled to the Pittsburgh North Golf Club on Monday afternoon and defeated Hampton, 191-206, in a non-section match. Senior Zack Wessel shot an even par 35 while senior Jake Wrigley added a two-over 37 for the winning Tigers. Wrigley's score included an eagle on the treacherous par 5 number seven. Juniors Christian Tambelllini and Clif Dietrick both posted 39s. Wessel included two birdies, two bogies and five pars in his even par 35. With the non-section win, the Tigers improved their overall record to 2-0 in the early season. NA returns to section play this afternoon when they travel to Treesdale Country Club to meet Pine-Richland. Tee off time is scheduled for 4:45 pm. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * DIETRICK LEADS TIGERS OVER SHALER, 180-233 Junior Clif Dietrick posted a four under 31 to lead the Tigers to a 180-233 victory over Shaler in the section opener at Diamond Run Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon. Dietrick recorded six birdies, two bogies and a par as he helped NA to get off to a good start in the new season. On a perfect day for golf, junior Christian Tambellini added an even par 35 and senior Jake Wrigley a 37 for the winning Tigers. The Tigers will continue section play on Friday when they travel to New Castle for a 3:30 pm match. JV UPDATE: The JV team downed Shaler, 204-255, at Pittsburgh National Golf Club in the opener on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Hashim Hyder shot a 39 and sophomore Pat Mittereder a 40 to pace NA. The Tigers will host a tri-match against Mars and Shady Side Academy tomorrow afternoon at the North Park Golf Course. MATCH SUMMARY
