Senior running back Grant Huckestein scored three more touchdowns, two rushing and one on a pass reception, to lead the Tigers to a 37-0 victory over Seneca Valley in the Northern Six Conference opener at Newman Stadium on Friday night.  Junior halfback Matt Steinbeck got the Tigers off and running with a 68 yard punt return for a touchdown to give NA a 7-0 lead after the first quarter.  Senior QB Justin Brozick tossed a pair of TD passes, one to Huckestein and the other to junior WR Dan Slivka.

After the opening kickoff was drilled into the end zone by senior PK Jackson Cox, the Tiger defense held the Raiders to seven yards on three plays.  Huckestein took the punt by Pete Vicente on a fair catch at the NA 41.  On first down, Brozick threw to Slivka on the left sideline for a gain on nine to midfield.  The Raiders were called for a late hit giving NA a first down at the Raider 35.  On second and eleven, Brozick threw again to Slivka for a gain of 11 and just short of another first down at the 25.  On the next play, junior HB Alex Papson ran off the right side for four and a first down at the Seneca 22.  On second and ten, Brozick just overthrew an open senior TE Jon Lowery inside the five.  On the next play, Brozick completed a pass to Lowery but it was short of the sticks at the SV 16.  The Tigers were set to attempt a Cox field goal, but the snap sailed over his head and rolled to the Raider 47 where it was recovered by Seneca's Andrew Smith.  After an incomplete pass, the Raiders were called for holding moving the ball back the SV 37.  On the next play, junior DE Justin Haser broke through to sack Raider quarterback Donnie Holl for a loss of eight.  On fourth down, Vicente punted out of bounds at the 50.  The Tigers could not move the ball and Brozick punted into the end zone.  On a third a long, Smith made a diving catch for a first down at the Raider 31.  Three additional plays gained four yards forcing another Vicente punt.  Steinbeck made a good catch of the punt at his 32, cut to his left, and outraced the Seneca team into the end zone to put the Tigers ahead.  Cox added the point as NA took a 7-0 lead with just 58 seconds left in the quarter.  On the kickoff, the Raiders were called for an illegal block moving the ball back to the Seneca 8.  On a second and six, senior linebacker Gary Allen hit SV running back Jack Graham for a loss of one as the quarter ended.  The Tigers held a seven-point lead after one period of play.

As the second quarter began, Holl threw in the flat to WR Mike Martin who could gain only two yards.  With fourth and long, Vicente stood deep in his end zone to punt.  The snap went over his head and out of the end zone for a safety to give the Tigers a 9-0 lead just 45 seconds into the period.   Vicente punted on the free kick with Steinbeck bobbling the ball and then being tackled at the NA 31.   The Tigers then went on a five play 69-yard scoring drive.   On first down, Huckestein ran the middle for four yards.  On the next play, Huckestein broke free and raced all the way to the Seneca eight, a gain of 61 yards.  After Papson ran left for three to the Raider 5, Huckestein was hit for a loss of one by Raider linebacker Luke Mueller.  On the next play, Brozick threw to a wide open Huckestein for the touchdown.  Cox's kick made it 16-0 with 8:59 still left in the half.  On the kickoff, Cox dropped the ball in between Seneca players at the 20 where senior CB Blair Plivelic fell on the ball for the Tigers at the Raider 23.  The Tigers were called for holding on the first down play, moving the ball back to the 33.  On the next play, Brozick found Huckestein open again on the right side for a gain of nineteen to the SV 10.  On the next play, Huckestein scored his second touchdown of the game running up the middle for the ten yards.  After the play, both teams were called for unsportsmanlike conduct.  On the extra point, NA was called for a false start.  Cox still tacked on the point from 25 yards out to give the Tigers a 23-0 lead with 8:25 left in the half.  After Troy Witt returned the kickoff to the SV 25, senior Ryan Kelly nailed QB Holl for a loss of five to the 20 on a second and ten.  After a time out by the Raiders, a short pass gained two forcing another Vicente punt that was fair caught by Steinbeck at the NA 48.  On first down, Papson took a pitch out around right end for nine, and then ran the left side for three more and a first down at the 40.  After an incomplete pass, Huckestein raced up the middle for 18 and another first down at the Raider 18.  On the next play, Lowery made a tough catch of a Brozick pass at the Seneca three giving the Tigers a first and goal.  Papson then raced around left end into the end zone, but the Tigers were called for holding moving the ball back to the 12.  after a motion penalty, Brozick found Steinbeck open for a gain of nine to the Raider eight.  On the next play, Seneca's Jake Double intercepted a Brozick pass in the end zone and brought it out of bounds at the Seneca 2.  After three plays gained only seven yards, Vicente punted to Huckestein who made a running catch and took it out of bounds at the Raider37 with under two minutes to play.  On second and eight, Brozick scrambled for a first down at the SV 27.  Brozick then threw to Huckestein for 17 more and a first and goal at the ten.  After an incomplete pass, Brozick hit Slivka in the right corner of the end zone for the touchdown.  Cox again added the point as NA took a commanding 30-0 lead with 59.1 seconds left.  The Raiders picked up one first down before punting to the NA 34.  After an incomplete pass, Brozick took a knee ending a very long second quarter of play.  The Tigers took the 30-0 advantage to the intermission.

Tiger running back David Humphrey brought the second half kickoff all the way back to the Raider 38, a return of 52 yards.  A  holding call moved the ball back to the 49.  On a third and ten, Brozick scrambled for nine yards to the 40.  On fourth and one, Huckestein was stopped short and the Raiders took over at their own 40.  Senior Evan Hetzel gained five on first down, but Seneca was called for holding on the next play.  Hetzel was able to pick up twelve to the 48.  On the next play, RB Randy Morris was stopped for no gain, but the Tigers were called for a personal foul giving SV a first down at the NA 37.  After Hetzel got two, the Raiders called a time out.  On the next play, QB Holl was drilled by senior linebackers T.J. Idowu and Huckestein for no gain.  The Raiders fumbled on the next run with Idowu picking up the ball and returning it eight yards to the NA 44.  It took the Tigers only four plays to go 56 yards.  On first down, Papson ran for three and added four more on the next play to the Seneca 49.  On third down Brozick threw to Huckestein for nine and a first down at the 40.  On the next play, Huckestein raced up the middle and outran the Raider secondary into the end zone for his third touchdown of the game.  Cox was perfect again on the point as the Tigers extended the lead to 37-0 invoking the mercy rule.  After Seneca's Nick Palaski returned the kickoff 18 yards to the SV 38, two plays gained only two yards.  On third down, Holl rolled right and threw along the sideline where the ball was deflected into the air and picked off by Plivelic at the NA 44.  After an unsportsmanlike call against NA cost 15 yards, junior Michael Buchert came in at QB.  On first down, Buchert completed a pass to senior TE Kevin Clark, but the Tigers were called for an ineligible man down field moving the ball back to the 24.  Humphrey was able to get eleven yards in two running plays but the Tigers were forced to punt with senior CB Zach Runzo downing the ball at the Seneca 37.  Two plays lost a yard as the running clock ran out.  The third quarter ended with the Tigers holding the 37-0 lead.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, Holl completed a pass to Hetzel for a gain of nine to the SV 46.  On fourth and one, the Tiger defense stopped Holl on a quarterback sneak and took over at the Seneca 46.  On second down, the Tigers fumbled and Mueller recovered for the Raiders at their 45.  After three plays and an offside call against NA, Seneca was faced with a fourth down and long.  The Raiders tried a running play but were stopped short as the Tigers took over at the NA 47.  Three Tiger plays gained only two yards and Cox was sent in to punt.  The first punt by Cox this season rolled all the way to the SV one where it was downed.  Two plays got only two yards before backup quarterback Aaron Pynos ran for 12 yards and a first down at the Seneca 15.  On the next play, Pynos ran for ten more and another first down at the 25.  Three plays later, Pynos was stopped short of a first down at the 31.  Senior QB Greg Adams then took a knee as the mercy rule clock ran out.  The Tigers completed the 37-0 victory.  The win was the seventh straight for NA against Seneca Valley, a streak that has seen the Tigers outscore the Raiders by a 236-74 count.

Statistically, the Tigers dominated the Raiders outgaining Seneca by a 315-86 margin.  On the ground, NA gained 204 yards while holding the Raiders to just 49.  Individually, Huckestein picked up 135 yards in nine carries (15.0 ypc).  In the air, Brozick completed ten of 16 for 111 yards and two touchdowns.  Huckestein caught four passes for 51 yards and a score.  Defensively, Allen led with six solo and two assisted tackles while Lowery added five solo and three assisted stops.  For his punt return that provided the initial momentum for NA, the North Allegheny Sports Network named Matt Steinbeck as the Player of the Game.

With the win, NA is now 1-0 in conference play, 4-1 overall on the season.  The Tigers will travel to Shaler next Friday night to meet the undefeated Titans as conference play continues.  The North Allegheny Sports Network will be there to broadcast the game LIVE on the internet beginning with the pre-game show at 7:10 pm.  Game time is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
