NA CHEERLEADERS TAKE HOME STATE TITLE
(11/19/11) North Allegheny traveled to Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Saturday to compete at the Pennsylvania State Cheerleading Championship. Nearly 75 teams were in attendance. Both the Varsity and Junior Varsity squads brought home 1st place trophies in their respective divisions.
The JV cheerleaders entered the competition for the first time as a co-ed team, impressing both the crowd and judges with an exciting routine filled with creative choreography and high-flying basket tosses. The team beat the perennial powerhouse from Cumberland Valley to come out on top in the Junior Varsity division for the second year in a row.
The Varsity team surpassed some tough competition in the Large Varsity category. Their goal was to hit a clean routine and have a fun, exciting performance. The girls not only exceeded those expectations, but performed an action-packed, near perfect routine. The veteran-laden Varsity team dominated the division with some of the highest scores on the day, proving that they will be a strong contender at Nationals this year.
The NA competitive cheer teams will travel to Slippery Rock University to compete at the UCA National Qualifier on December 11th.
