TIGERS WRAP UP SEASON WITH WIN OVER PETERS TOWNSHIP, 11-6 (5/12/12) North Allegheny finished the 2012 campaign by winning their final three games and capping the season with an 11-6 victory at Peters Township on Friday night. NA's leading scorer Joe Griffin came away with his second straight hat trick, pushing the Tigers toward victory in their season finale. Peters Township opened the scoring with a goal four minutes into the game, but NA unleashed a flurry of goals late in the first quarter to take a 3-1 lead. Griffin earned his first marker with 1:08 remaining in the quarter, then Joe Huber and Dan Briskey followed with goals within the next minute give NA a two goal lead. The Indians stole a bit of the Tigers momentum by scoring three of the next four goals to tie the score at 4-4 with 7:27 to go in the half. Again, the Tigers struck with a flurry of goals before the end of the quarter. Art Stypula, Griffin, Nick Foglio and Grady Wagner all tallied goals to give NA an 8-4 lead at halftime. Once more, the Indians fought back with the game's next two goals to pull to within 8-6 of the Tigers with 5:44 remaining in the game. But following the same blueprint they had been operating by throughout the night, the Tigers scored three unanswered goals to end the game for an 11-6 victory. Grant Davis, Wagner and Griffin closed out the scoring in the game. In net for NA, John Abbondanza played the first half and made four saves while John Brandon played most of the second half and posted six saves. Defensively, Huber led with five forced errors and Chris Leasher followed with four. Huber and Anthony Peluso tied for the team lead in ground balls with eight apiece. Peluso also won 10 of 13 face offs on the night. North Allegheny concludes the season with an extremely respectable 11-6 record. The Tigers will look to build on a season in which NA dealt with much adversity to still post a winning record by playing a tough, hard-nosed style. Congratulations on a great season to Coach John Rullan and the NA Boys Lacrosse Team! GAME

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * WPIAL BOYS' LACROSSE - 2012 The Tigers will compete again this year in the WPIAL along with 30 other teams. The top four (4) teams in each section will enter the WPIAL tournament. Teams that qualify for the WPIAL Tournament may not play games after SUNDAY MAY 13, 2012 but may scrimmage any team still alive in the WPIAL Tournament. There is no limit to the number of post-season scrimmages provided that the opponent is still alive in the tournament. All playoff entries will be determined by section record only and will be determined by the best section won/lost record. Teams that tie for first place will not have the tie broken and ALL of the tied teams will be declared section champions, will receive section winner’s plaques, and will be entered into the WPIAL Tournament. The top 2 teams from each section will play at home in the first round of the playoffs. In the event of a multiple team (two or more teams) tie for a playoff position head-to-head competition will be the first determinant. If head-to-head does not break the tie, the following tie-breaking system will be used. If three or more teams are tied for third place and the tie-breaking system identifies one team as the third place team, the remaining teams will then be tied for fourth place and the process begins all over with head-to-head competition being the first determinant for establishing the fourth place team. If a tie cannot be broken all tied teams will enter the playoffs. TIE-BREAKING SYSTEM 1. Section records of
the tied teams will be compiled. Teams that qualify for the tournament should be aware that they may be placed in a preliminary round and may be assigned to play beginning on Monday, May 16, 2011. Section winners and second place finishers will be awarded home games in the first round with the third and fourth place teams playing away. In the event of a tie for first and/or second place, the WPIAL will determine the home site assignment based on availability and suitability. The WPIAL semi-finals and finals will be contested at a neutral site. Teams should be aware that PIAA tournament entry is reserved for Division I Teams. The WPIAL however will crown a Division I and Division II Champion. Runner Up and third place team determined by a consolation final game will enter the 2010-2011 PIAA Boys' Lacrosse Championship. 2012 BOYS' LACROSSE ALIGNMENT -30 TEAMS DIVISION I
