THREE TIGER SWIMMERS SIGN LETTERS OF INTENT

A trio of North Allegheny swimmers will continue their academic and athletic careers at major universities next year.  Senior Kally Vanderbilt has committed to George Washington University, located in Washington DC, for the fall of 2012.  Last year, Vanderbilt anchored the record-breaking performance of the 400-yard Freestyle relay team at the WPIAL Championships, while swimming several other events throughout the season.  Another member from that record-setting relay team, Allie Pennetti, will be attending Penn State, planning to major in agricultural science.  Pennetti won individual gold at the WPIAL championships last winter in the 100-yard Freestyle, finishing 12th in the state meet.  Finally, Matthew Buerger will head to the University of Notre Dame, where he plans to study science.  A season ago, Buerger won gold in the 200-yard Medley Relay and the 200-yard Individual Medley at WPIALs, finishing third in the state in the 200-yard IM.  North Allegheny Swimming and Diving enters the 2011-12 season looking to build on last year's successes, after both the girls and boys teams finished in 4th place overall at the state meet.
