McGoey Takes Gold, NA Boys’ Win 10th Straight WPIAL Title

A decade of dominance continued for the North Allegheny Boys Cross Country Team on Thursday afternoon as the Tigers captured their 10th straight WPIAL championship at Cooper’s Lake. The NA Boys claimed the title with a low score of 47, besting second place Canon-McMillan by 58 points. Senior Matt McGoey won the Class AAA boys individual title with a time of 15:57.  Seniors Hunter Wharrey and Scott Seel finished in second and sixth, respectively.

The Lady Tigers took home bronze with a team score of 107. Seneca Valley won its first Class AAA title with 87 points and Mt. Lebanon finished second with a score of 92. North Allegheny’s Madeleine Davison ran well and took second place with a time of 18:08 in the individual competition.

Now the NA Cross Country squad sets its sights on a state title and will compete in the PIAA Championships on Saturday, November 1.
