No. 1 North Allegheny Beats Butler, 3-0

The top-ranked North Allegheny boys’ volleyball team won its fourth match in a row to begin the 2017 season, beating the Butler Golden Tornado on Thursday night, 3-0. The Tigers won by set scores of 25-22, 25-16 and 25-20.

The NA attack was paced by junior Canyon Tuman’s 10 kills, followed by junior Jason Stiefvater who  delivered seven kills. Senior M.J. Barton returned to the setter spot and dished out a team-best 24 assists. Senior Eric Visgitis collected a team-high five blocks, while Ryan Beck led the defense with nine digs. Junior Josh Bachinsky chipped in defensively with eight digs.

North Allegheny sits at 4-0 overall and 3-0 in Section 2-AAA with the win. Butler slips to 2-2 in the section. The Tigers host Fox Chapel on Monday night at 7:00 p.m.

JV Update: NA won 2-0 (25-18, 25-13).
