After a win in the JRK Boys Memorial Classic last night, the Tigers boys’ soccer team kept momentum going in day two of the event, taking down Mercyhurst Prep from Ram Cage Field at Pine-Richland 7-0 Saturday afternoon.

The scoring started early as freshman Josh Tufts scored unassisted in the second minute. Junior Francis Randiga tallied a marker off a Tufts assist to put the Tigers up 2-0. Junior Alec Vattula found the back of the net on an unassisted goal to make it 3-0. Senior dual-sport athlete Emmett Morris scored his first of the season, assisted by junior Harper Boles, who had back-to-back helpers with an assist on junior Colin Sanner’s goal later in the game. Senior Kevin Chen and sophomore James Hetherington rounded out the scoring with senior Justin Chen notching a helper on the final tally.

NA goalkeepers pitched a combined shutout, including sophomore Jaxon Cowger, and seniors Gianni Corso and Ben Powell.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 2-0 on the young season. The Tigers play at Newman Stadium for the first time this season Tuesday evening when they host the Plum Mustangs in a rematch of last year’s WPIAL 4A Semifinal. That match will be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network starting at 7:30 p.m.
