The North Allegheny boys’ soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw against the Norwin Knights on Saturday night at Newman Stadium.

Neither team could crack the scoreboard in regulation before the pace picked up in overtime. Norwin outshot NA, 9-3, and led in corner kicks, 5-3. The Knights’ pressure led to a pair of great scoring chances in the extra sessions that were turned away by North Allegheny senior goalie Xavier Zyskowski. In the first overtime, Zyskowski denied back-to-back opportunities from sophomore Tanner Johnson and junior Ryan Schoemer. In the second overtime, Johnson streaked down the left wing and let loose a rifle shot that was stonewalled on a diving save by Zyskowski near the left post. Posting his second shutout of the season, Zyskowski was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game.

Following the tie, North Allegheny now sits 3-1-1 on the season, while Norwin holds a 0-3-1 record. Following four tough non-section tune-ups, the Tigers will play their section opener on the road when they visit North Hills on Thursday.
