The North Allegheny boys’ soccer team played in a tough section opener on the road, tying North Hills 1-1 after two overtimes at Martorelli Stadium Thursday night.
The Tigers and Indians didn’t crack the scoresheet until the second half of play. NA had strong play from senior keeper Xavier Zyskowski, who made two saves in net. The Tigers peppered the Indians’ junior goalkeeper Adrian Werder, who made seven saves on the other end.
North Hills broke the scoreless tie in the 47th minute of action on an unassisted marker from Tyler Myers. North Allegheny responded 20 minutes later in the 67th minute, as senior Leo Yu found the back of the net off a rebound.
The tie gives the Tigers a 3-1-2 record overall, with a 0-0-1 section mark. NA is back in action at Newman Stadium Tuesday night for a matchup with rival Pine-Richland. That 7:30 p.m. match will be broadcast live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
