Tigers fall to Canon-McMillan in non-section action
North Allegheny hosted the Canon-McMillan Big Macs at UPMC Court in non-section play on Monday night. Canon-McMillan came in one of the top teams in 6A and flexed their muscles defeating the Tigers by a score of 50-28.
With the score 5-3 early in the first quarter, Canon-McMillan went on a 12-0 run to make the score 17-3 and led 20-6 after a quarter of play. The Big Macs outscored NA 10-5 in the second quarter to take a 30-11 lead at halftime.
The third quarter was very defensive with North Allegheny not able to make up any ground trailing 36-17 going into the final frame. It was more of the same in the fourth quarter as the Tigers fell 50-28.
Vange Balouris had 17 points for NA, 14 of them in the second half. For her efforts, Balouris was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game.
North Allegheny falls to 7-8 overall. Canon-McMillan improves to 12-4. The Tigers return to action on Thursday when they travel to Seneca Valley to take on the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. This begins the second half of section play.
