Boys Soccer upended in opener
North Allegheny opened the season at the Canon-McMillan Invitational taking on West Allegheny on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers offense couldn’t get going as they fell, 1-0.
Both teams seemed to have first game jitters and play was not sharp to start. NA had several opportunities to score early but couldn’t find the back of the net.
West Allegheny settled in and had the majority of the possession in the first half. The beginning of the second half saw North Allegheny get some pressure but again could not score. The Indians took advantage of a North Allegheny turnover to score the only goal of the game in the 67th minute.
The Tigers pressured for the final five minutes of the game but could not find the equalizer and lost 1-0. Jaxon Cowger had double digit saves.
North Allegheny falls to 0-1 overall. The Tigers return to action on Tuesday when they host Canon-McMillan at Newman Stadium at 7:30 p.m. This match will be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
