Tigers Claw Past Cougars, 2-1

Posted on:

The North Allegheny boys’ soccer team edged the Kiski School, 2-1, at the JRK Classic at Pine-Richland High School on Sunday evening.

The Cougars scored the first goal of the game just three minutes into the contest when Mamadou Tall tapped in a rebound for a 1-0 lead. The advantage for the Kiski School was short-lived, however, as a long pass from goalie Dante Accamando found Zach Nash who put a shot past Cougars goalie Oscar De Blas Plumer in the game’s 6th minute to tie the score at 1-1. In the 27th minute, Nash struck again and drove home a rebound for a 2-1 North Allegheny lead.

In the second half, Accamando and the NA defense silenced the Kiski School the rest of the way to help the Tigers earn a second consecutive win. Accamando made nine saves, while De Blas Plumer made five stops for the Cougars.

North Allegheny will aim for three wins in a row on Tuesday night in the section opener against Shaler at Newman Stadium. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
