North Allegheny senior Alex Mitterer signed his letter of intent on Thursday to continue his academic and athletic career at NCAA Division II Gannon University.

A three-sport athlete, Mitterer is a member of the cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track and field teams. This past fall, Mitterer was a valuable contributor to North Allegheny’s sixth consecutive WPIAL championship in cross country. He finished 62nd at the WPIAL finals with a time of 17:42, helping displace runners from other teams at the event. Mitterer is a three-year letterman in cross country and has been a runner since the seventh grade.

Additionally, the North Allegheny indoor track and field team took second place at the TSTCA championship and the NA boys’ outdoor track and field team garnered third place in the WPIAL Class AAA championship with Mitterer a member of both squads.

At Gannon University, Mitterer will major in Pre-Physical Therapy and will run for the cross country team for the Golden Knights.
