Fourth Quarter Rally Lifts NA To Win Over Norwin
The Lady Tigers rallied from a 10-point fourth quarter deficit to pluck away a win from the Norwin Knights, 58-52, in a non-section contest at NASH on Monday night. The win was North Allegheny’s fifth straight and improves the Tigers record to 6-1 overall. Norwin drops to 4-3 overall.
Down 47-37 with 6:37 to play, North Allegheny turned the tables on the Knights with a 20-3 run. The turning point came midway through the fourth period with the Lady Tigers trailing 50-42. Beginning a barrage of three-point connections, sophomore Abby Gonzales drained a trey to cut the score to 50-45. Over the next minute, junior Devvin LaBarge knocked down a pair from beyond the arc to give NA a 51-50 lead. Until LaBarge’s three-pointer with 2:51 remaining, the Tigers had trailed the entire night. Thanks to a pair of clutch two-point jumpers by Danielle Wall and solid free-throw shooting down the stretch, North Allegheny finished off the Knights for a 58-52 victory.
Wall led the Tigers in scoring with 12 points, followed by Taylor Lake’s 11. LaBarge and Gonzales finished with 10 points apiece. For the Knights, Alayna Gribble scored a game-high 14 points.
North Allegheny returns to action on Friday at the Wright Automotive Holiday Tournament. The Lady Tigers host the Canon-McMillan Big Macs at 3:30 pm. The game will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network. Randy Gore and Rick Meister will have the call.
