The North Allegheny boys’ soccer team traveled to Fox Chapel Thursday night for the final section matchup of the regular season. The Foxes finished the season sweep of the Tigers with a 3-1 win.
Fox Chapel scored the first goal of the game in the 21st minute. Rocco Poli dribbled through the NA defense in the 18-yard box and passed to Calyx Kimbrough for the goal. North Allegheny scored the equalizer off a corner kick in the 34th minute. A deflected ball found the feet of junior Connor Heliger, who took the shot to make it 1-1.
In the second half, Fox Chapel found the back of the net two more times on goals from David Zagrocki and Paulie Fitzsimmons in the 77th and 78th minutes, respectively.
Tigers senior goalkeeper Ben Powell earned his first start of the season and made seven key saves to keep NA in the game.
With the loss, NA falls to 9-5-2 overall and 5-4-1 in section play. The final game of the regular season is slated for Monday at 7:30 p.m. when the Tigers take on Central Catholic in a non-conference match at Newman Stadium. That game is set to be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
