Henderson’s 8 3-pointers Directs NA To 54-44 win over Penn Hills

The North Allegheny girls’ basketball team picked up another victory in day two of the Wright Automotive Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon with a 54-44 triumph over Penn Hills. The Tigers grabbed a 34-24 lead by halftime and maintained a double-digit advantage the rest of the way.

After a clutch performance in the season-opener the night before, senior guard Caroline Henderson continued her torrid shooting against the Indians with a game-high 26 points and buried an eye-popping eight 3-pointers to lead the charge. Senior guard Kellie McConnell and senior forward Lydia Betz followed with eight points each.

Penn Hills was paced by Hannah Pugliese with 17 points. Egypt Coleman and Cara Crawford added 12 points each for the Indians.

With the non-section win, North Allegheny improves to 2-0 on the season, while Penn Hills drops to 0-2. The Tigers will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 9, against Toledo Central Catholic in the Hoban Hoopfest in Akron, Ohio.
