Lady Tigers Level Little Lions, 62-33

The North Allegheny girls’ basketball team rounded out the regular season on Monday evening with a convincing 62-33 victory over perennial District 6 title contender, State College.

In their final regular season tune-up before the upcoming WPIAL Class 6A playoffs, the Tigers jumped out to a 41-15 lead by halftime on the road. Leading 21-11 after one period, the Tigers suffocated the Little Lions in the second period, outscoring their foe, 20-4, in the stanza. From there, NA cruised to the win behind a 22-point performance from senior Jasmine Timmerson. Junior guard Caroline Henderson notched double figures with 12 points courtesy of four 3-pointers. Timmerson was also deadly from beyond the arc with four treys of her own.

For State College, sophomore guard Jordan Steindl netted 11 points to lead the Little Lions in scoring.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 17-5 overall and will prepare for a familiar foe in the WPIAL Class 6A quarterfinals, the Pine-Richland Rams. The postseason contest on Thursday, Feb. 23 will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
