Late Surge Leads NA to Thrilling 3-2 Victory At Fox Chapel

North Allegheny scored three goals in a six-minute span in the second half to rally for a 3-2 victory at Fox Chapel on Tuesday night in a Section 1-4A contest. Now 8-0 on the season, it’s the best start through the first eight games for the Tigers since going 26-0 in 1999 before falling in the PIAA championship game to Downingtown.

Ranked No. 2 in the latest Trib Live HSSN rankings, the host Foxes jumped out to a 1-0 lead when junior Pablo Linzoain scored an unassisted goal in the 8th minute. Fox Chapel extended the lead to 2-0 in the 33rd minute thanks to a goal by junior Milo Chiu, assisted by junior Aidan Stein.

The third-ranked Tigers staged a furious rally in the second half and stunned the Foxes with a flurry of goals. In the 50th minute, junior Zach Nash accepted a pass from senior Joey Vojtas and placed a shot past Fox Chapel keeper Connor Scanlon to trim the score to 2-1. Just three minutes later, senior Arnav Patel knotted the score at 2-2, setting the stage for the game-winning marker. In the 56th minute, junior Caleb Rumberger drove home rebound to vault NA in front, 3-2.

Senior goalie Dante Accamando totaled nine saves to keep the Tigers ahead to stay for a thrilling section triumph.

North Allegheny leaps to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in Section 1-4A, while Fox Chapel dips to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the section. The Tigers return home on Thursday to face Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
