Meg Morningstar Captures Quad-A MVP At Roundball Classic

The best of the best in WPIAL basketball was on display this weekend at the annual Roundball Classic at Geneva College this weekend and North Allegheny senior Meg Morningstar came away as the Class AAAA MVP in the battle between Quad-A and Triple-A.  The Class AAA All-Stars won the game, 96-71, but Morningstar was recognized for her outstanding efforts with 13 points and numerous rebounds for the Class AAAA team.  The Tigers senior was a force on the inside with several blocked shots to go along with her bounty of rebounds. Penn-Trafford’s Maria Palarino led the Quad-A team in scoring with 14 points.  The Class AAA squad was paced by Blackhawk’s Chassidy Omogrosso who netted 21 points.

The MVP Award at the Roundball Classic wraps a sparkling senior season for Morningstar. Also a member of the Lady Tigers volleyball team, Morningstar was the named the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Pennsylvania in addition to All-State and All-WPIAL recognition. With the help of Morningstar, a Notre Dame recruit, the NA girls’ volleyball team reached the WPIAL title match and the PIAA playoffs.

On the hardwood, Morningstar was a key contributor to a North Allegheny squad that reached the WPIAL semifinals and PIAA quarterfinals with a 24-4 record.  Morningstar averaged 10.2 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per contest. Morningstar concludes her North Allegheny career with a total of 626 points.
