NA Bounces Back With Win At Pine-Richland, 57-33

The North Allegheny girls’ basketball team returned to the win column on Thursday night with a 57-33 road victory at Pine-Richland in Section 1-6A action.

Leading 24-15 at the half, the Tigers blew the game wide open in the third period by outscoring the Rams, 26-11, in the stanza to grab a comfortable 50-26 advantage. NA coasted in the fourth quarter to capture its first section win of the season.

The senior trio of Kellie McConnell, Lydia Betz and Caroline Henderson provided most of the fireworks. McConnell tallied a game-high 19 points and buried three 3-pointers, all of which in the second half. Betz scored 10 points during NA’s big third quarter and totaled 18 points. Henderson was steady throughout and poured in four 3-pointers for a 12-point night.

For Pine-Richland, Madison Zavasky led with 18 points and accounted for over half of the Rams offensive output.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 7-1 overall and 1-1 in Section 1-6A. Pine-Richland falls to 2-7 overall and 1-1 in section play. The Tigers will visit Butler on Monday in another section contest.
