NA Punishes Penn Hills, 63-39

The North Allegheny Tigers started fast, jumping out to a 10-2 lead, and never looked back defeating the Penn Hills Indians 63-39 on Saturday afternoon.

North Allegheny led 21-8 after the first quarter and 38-19 at the half.  The Tigers connected on eight 3-pointers in the first half, four from Kellie McConnell, two from Caroline Henderson and one each from Cam Phillips and Grace Helliger. On the afternoon, North Allegheny connected on 13 3-pointers.

Defensively, North Allegheny forced numerous turnovers on the day with their man-to-man defense and full court pressure.  Leading the way was McConnell with 15 points and five treys.  She was selected the Wright Automotive player of the Game.

McConnell was one of nine different Tigers to score on the day. Henderson had nine points, Lydia Betz and Vange Balouris netted eight points each, and Phillips chipped in with seven.  For Penn Hills, Hannah Pugliese had 19 points.

North Allegheny improves to 2-0 on the young season and will face Wheeling Park on Wednesday night.  You can listen to the game on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
