The North Allegheny cross country teams hosted the Cathedral Prep Ramblers to kick off the dual meet season.  Both teams seemed to pick up where they left off last year, running away with landslide victories over Prep on the North Park home course.

The Lady Tigers won with a score of 19-42. Sophomore Wren Kucler ran away with the individual victory in a great time of 18:44 on the challenging three-mile course.  Prep’s top runner took second place and was followed by four North Allegheny runners.  Senior Grace Rowley ran an outstanding race, placing third.  Junior Erin McGoey was super strong in fourth place.  Junior Eva Kynaston was not far behind McGoey running very well and snatching fifth place overall. Sophomore Camille Swirsding was fantastic with a sixth-place finish.  Prep’s number two girl came in seventh.  Sophomore Kendall Lucas grabbed the eighth spot with a fast race.  She was followed by freshman phenom Mackenzie Winning who beat Prep’s number 3 at the line to earn a ninth-place overall finish.

The NA Boys dominated Cathedral Prep 15-48, taking the top five scoring spots in the race.  Sophomore Jack Bertram looked smooth with 16:11 victory.  Senior Gregory Kossuth had a breakout performance taking second place.  Not far behind Kossuth was junior Michael Gauntner, who also ran a great race.  Junior James Behrend had an outstanding day, placing fourth.  Senior Jackson Pajak ran an excellent race placing fifth overall.  The top five Tigers all ran sub-17 min on the three-mile course – an incredible feat.  Prep’s number one runner came in next and was then followed by ten Tigers.  In seventh place with a breakout race was senior Nick Betler, and not far behind was senior leader Joey Rempe with a great performance.

Both teams will head to White Oak Park this Saturday for the annual Red, White and Blue Invitational.
