NA Slides Past North Hills For 6th Consecutive Win, 3-1

Following a one-hour lightning delay, the North Allegheny boys’ soccer team earned a sixth consecutive victory on Thursday night with a 3-1 triumph over the North Hills Indians at Newman Stadium.

The Tigers dictated the pace throughout most of the first half and cashed in for the game’s first goal when senior captain Arnav Patel scored with 25:54 on the clock for a 1-0 lead. Just over two minutes later, senior Luke Brady netted his third goal of the season and the Tigers led, 2-0. A spark plug for North Allegheny throughout the night, Brady was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game.

Since joining Section 1-4A in 2020, the North Hills Indians had lost 40 consecutive section games prior to their 4-3 win over Shaler on Tuesday night. Playing with greater confidence, the Indians managed to trim the deficit to 2-1 when Zachary Fritz gained some space in the right corner and sent a crossing pass in front to Jack Scarsella for a marker with 4:24 left in the first half.

Coming out halftime, North Allegheny regained its two-goal cushion just two minutes into the second half thanks to a marker by junior Caleb Rumberger, his second of the season, for a 3-1 lead. From there, the Tigers’ suffocating defense swallowed up the Indians for the remainder of the night to close out the section victory.

North Allegheny outshot North Hills, 12-5, and led in corner kicks, 5-2.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in Section 1-4A. North Hills slips to 1-3 overall and in the section. The Tigers will visit Hampton Saturday for a non-section contest.
