NA Tops York At Hoops For Harmony Tournament, 57-46

The North Allegheny girls’ basketball team opened day one of the Hoops for Harmony Tournament with a 57-46 victory over host York High on Saturday evening.

The Tigers built a 31-24 lead by halftime and put the game away with a strong third period and outscored York, 20-11, in the quarter. NA used a well-balanced attack with three players touching double figures. Senior guard Kellie McConnell netted a team-best 15 points, including three 3-pointers. Senior guard Grace Heliger totaled 11 points and made 5-of-6 from the free-throw line, while senior forward Lydia Betz tallied 10 points.

York was paced by Ciarra Gibbs with 21 points and her trio of treys.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 10-1 overall. The Tigers will Susquehanna Township on Sunday in day two of the Hoops for Harmony Tournament.
