It was a battle of undefeated teams on Monday night in Harrison City and the North Allegheny Tigers maintained their unblemished record with a convincing 66-41 win at Penn-Trafford.  The two teams entered the contest tied atop the Section 1-6A standings with matching 5-0 records. Facing each other for the first time in nearly five years, the Tigers dealt the host Warriors their first loss of the season.

Penn-Trafford stayed close with North Allegheny in the early going and trailed 18-13 three minutes into the second quarter. Kenzie Powell and Allie Prady did their best to keep things close, scoring 12 and 10 points on the night, respectively, for the Warriors.

North Allegheny’s strength on the offensive glass helped the Tigers hold the lead in the early stages with second and third chance opportunities. NA developed more of a shooting rhythm by the end of the half and outscored Penn-Trafford, 15-8, for the remainder of the quarter and led 33-21 by intermission.

In the third quarter, the Tigers opened the second half on an 11-2 run to gain a strangle hold of the game. From that point on, the contest was never close. North Allegheny had four players touch double figures, led by sophomore Cam Phillips’ 14 points. Sophomore Jasmine Timmerson and junior Emma Fischer netted 13 points each, and senior Paige Morningstar finished with 11 points.

North Allegheny, winners of 21 in a row dating back to last season, improved to 8-0 overall and 6-0 in Section 1-6A action. Penn-Trafford falls to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in section play. The Tigers will face another tough challenger on Friday evening with a 5:00 p.m. home date with the Norwin Knights. The contest will be video streamed live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
