NA Wins PIAA Semifinal Rematch Over Cumberland Valley, 51-41

In a rematch of last year’s PIAA Class 6A semifinals, the North Allegheny Tigers once again prevailed over the Cumberland Valley Eagles, 51-41. NA won last year’s playoff contest, 66-40, en route to the program’s first state championship.

The Tigers grabbed an 18-13 lead in the first quarter thanks to a hot start from junior Jasmine Timmerson. The University of Pittsburgh recruit netted eight of her 11 points in the opening stanza to spark NA in the early going.

Seton Hill commit Emma Fischer kept the momentum going for the Tigers in the second and third quarters with four 3-pointers on her way to a team-high 16-point performance. North Allegheny led 42-32 after three quarters of play.

Sophomore Lydia Betz put Cumberland Valley away in the fourth quarter with seven of her 11 points coming in the final stanza. The Eagles were paced by sophomore center Jill Jekot, who tallied a game-high 25 points, but her efforts were not nearly enough as the Tigers prevailed, 51-41.

With the win, North Allegheny’s winning streak increased to 21 in a row. The Tigers are 11-0 overall, while Cumberland Valley saw its 11-game winning streak snapped and sits at 11-2 on the season. North Allegheny will face Forest Hills on Sunday at the Hoops for Harmony event at Chambersburg High School at 10:30 a.m.
