Strong Second Half Helps NA Past Villa Maria, 52-45

The Lady Tigers overcame a slow start for a 52-45 non-section win over Villa Maria at Gannon University on Saturday.  North Allegheny trailed 26-21 at halftime, but bounced back in the second half by shooting 55 percent from the field.

The Lady Tigers were led by junior Abby Gonzales who tallied a game-high 19 points and knocked down a pair of three-pointers. Senior Meg Morningstar nearly attained a double-double, scoring 13 points and pulling down nine rebounds.  Morningstar also led the team in assists and steals with seven and five, respectively. Taylor Lake chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.

For Villa Maria, Jaclyn Kitts was the lone player in double digits with 14.  Kitts was 4 for 7 from the field and 3 for 4 from beyond the arc.

North Allegheny improves to 6-2 overall with the win and will return to the court on Friday, January 2 against the Baldwin Highlanders for a 4:00 pm tip-off.  The game will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
