Three members of the North Allegheny cross country team made their college choices official on Wednesday. Seniors Eva Kynaston (Penn State University), Michael Gauntner (Slippery Rock) and Erin McGoey (University of Delaware) all signed their letters of intent.

Kynaston and McGoey both led the NA girls’ cross country team to WPIAL and PIAA championships this past fall. Kynaston finished in third place at the WPIAL championship and took home PIAA silver in Hershey. McGoey ran a strong race in the WPIAL finals and took fifth place. She gave another inspiring performance at states and medaled with an 18th-place showing. The WPIAL title was the sixth in a row and 17th overall for the NA Girls. The PIAA crown was also the sixth straight and 10th overall in program history.

Gauntner was a part of the sixth consecutive WPIAL championship, and 34th overall, for the NA Boys. He went from 10th place to fifth in the final mile of the race. Gauntner took 37th at the PIAA finals and led the Tigers to a sixth-place team performance.

Kynaston will major in Geography at Penn State, Gauntner plans to study Secondary Education/History and McGoey plans to major in Biochemistry at Delaware. All three are pictured above with head coach John Neff.
