Tigers dominant in win over Woodland Hills
North Allegheny traveled to Woodland Hills on Tuesday night to take on the Wolverines in a Section 1-6A contest. The Tigers jumped out to the early lead and coasted to a 63-31 victory over the Wolverines.
NA jumped out of the gates on fire hitting shots early and turning over Woodland Hills with their full court pressure. Leah Skweres had 10 points in the opening frame and North Allegheny led 18-4 after a quarter of play. Woodland Hills started to settle in, in the second quarter but the Tigers still held a big advantage, 35-15 at halftime.
It was more of the same in the third quarter as NA outscored the Wolverines 19-10, to expand the lead to 54-25 after three. The Tigers got the game into the running clock in the fourth quarter, and coasted to a 63-31 section win.
Skweres finished with 21 points. Natalie Kinross added 19 points while Vange Balouris had nine points.
North Allegheny improves to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in Section 1-6A. Woodland Hills falls to 5-5 overall and 0-3 in the section. The Tigers will be back in action on Friday when they travel to take on the Indians of North Hills at 6 p.m. This will be the first game of a girl/boy doubleheader.
