Tigers finish regular season with 64-40 victory over Thomas Jefferson

In a playoff tune-up for both teams, North Allegheny got out of the gates quickly and coasted to a 64-40 victory on Monday afternoon at North Allegheny High School.

The Tigers had a big first quarter outscoring Thomas Jefferson 22-6. The lead continued to expand as they led by 29 at halftime. The Jaguars did not lay down though as they were able to get the lead all the way back down to 12 in the fourth quarter before North Allegheny was able to find that extra gear and finish with a 64-40 victory.

Lizzy Groetsch led the way for the Tigers with 11 points. Emma Fischer added 10 points.

North Allegheny finishes the regular season a 21-1 and will be the top seed in the WPIAL 6A girls playoffs. Thomas Jefferson finishes the regular season at 11-10 and will be the number four seed in the WPIAL 5A girls playoffs. The Tigers will be back in action Saturday at North Allegheny High School at noon where they will play the winner of Penn-Trafford and Baldwin in the quarterfinals. That game will be live-streamed on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
