North Allegheny handled business Tuesday night, which was senior night, to keep pace with Norwin for the top spot in Section 1-6A handling Seneca Valley 48-34 at UPMC Court.

Things were very competitive to start with the game being played at Seneca Valley’s pace. The Raiders jumped out to a 6-4 lead but a 9-1 run for the Tigers got the lead out to 14-7, which was the score at the end of the first quarter. Seneca Valley got the offense going in the second frame outscoring NA 11-9 in the quarter. It was a great quarter by the Raiders but North Allegheny still had a 23-18 lead heading into halftime.

North Allegheny really got the defense going in the second half along with outside shooting going on a 12-1 run to begin the quarter. The Tigers held Seneca Valley without a field goal for the first six minutes of the quarter but once down, 35-19, the Raiders put together their own 6-0 run and made things interesting going into the final frame with NA leading 37-25. The Tigers milked the clock for most of the fourth quarter keeping the frame low scoring and the Tigers were able to come away with a 48-34 victory.

Lydia Betz led all scorers with 14 points. For her efforts, Betz was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game. Kellie McConnell added 10 points.

North Allegheny improves to 15-4 overall and 8-1 in the section. Seneca Valley falls to 5-15 overall and 1-8 in Section 1-6A. The Tigers will return to the court with a trip to Hempfield on Thursday before a couple playoff tune ups. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
