Tigers roll past Seneca Valley on Senior Night, 42-7
North Allegheny hosted the Seneca Valley Raiders on Friday night in a Quad County Conference showdown. The Tigers, who were celebrating senior night, got on the board early and used that momentum to roll past the Raiders by a final score of 42-7.
NA forced Seneca Valley to punt on their opening drive. Caden Petro was able to break through and block the punt setting up the North Allegheny offense on the Seneca Valley 25-yard line. The Tigers would take advantage of the good field position when Brady Brinkley had a five-yard touchdown run. Josh Gidas made the extra point and NA led 7-0.
North Allegheny’s defense would turn the Raiders over on downs before a six-play 45-yard drive was finished off again by Brinkley, this time from two yards out to make the score 14-0. Seneca Valley would respond with a 15-play, 72-yard drive the was capped off by a hook-and-ladder play on fourth down that found Josiah Edwards in the end zone to make the score 14-7. The Tigers would make quick work getting the points back as Brinkley connected with Ben Kern for 29 yards and Gavin Ust for 36 yards with Ust finding the end zone, making the score 21-7, which would be the score at halftime.
NA got the ball to start the third quarter and put together a crushing 12-play, 67-yard drive that saw Brinkley get his third rushing touchdown and fourth total touchdown of the game on a one-yard QB sneak on fourth-and-goal to expand the lead to 28-7. The North Allegheny defense forced a turnover on the next possession when Mason Brown intercepted Seneca Valley quarterback Rory O’Shea to give the Tiger offense the ball in plus territory. NA found themselves in a fourth-and-14 from the Seneca Valley 26-yard line but a trick play that had Brown throw a pass to a wide open Brinkley in the end zone made the score 35-7.
The North Allegheny defense set up another scoring drive when Tydes Alualu hit O’Shea and forced a fumble, scooped up by Melvin Porter to give the Tigers another short field. In the fourth quarter, Brinkley would return the favor, hitting Brown on an eight-yard completion for a touchdown and the mercy rule was in effect as North Allegheny rolled to a 42-7 victory.
With 193 passing yards, 34 rushing yards, 26 receiving yards and five total touchdowns, Brinkley was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game.
Anthony Sissini had 37 rushing yards while Ust led NA in receiving with 69 yards.
Alualu led the defense with 11 tackels, one for loss. Max Dehainaut had eight tackles while Grant Girty and Kellan Frank had six.
North Allegheny improves to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference. Seneca Valley falls to 2-5 overall and 0-5 in conference play. The Tigers head on the road next week when they travel to Mt. Lebanon to take on the Blue Devils at 7 p.m. This game will be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
