Tigers Trounce Titans To Cap Perfect Trip Through Section
The North Allegheny girls’ basketball team completed a perfect trip through the Section 1-6A slate with a 52-21 win at Shaler on Wednesday night.
The Tigers used a 29-point outburst in the second quarter to gain a stranglehold of the contest and a 38-9 halftime lead. Senior Lizzy Groetsch spearheaded the effort with 11 of her 13 points in the second period. Fellow senior Paige Morningstar tallied a team-high 17 points as NA coasted to the win in the second half.
For Shaler, no player reached double figures. Hilary Quinn and Makenzie Barr paced the Titans with seven points each.
North Allegheny improves to 19-1 overall and 14-0 in Section 1-6A. Shaler falls to 4-10 overall and 4-7 in the section. The Tigers visit Peters Township on Friday night for a non-section tune-up before the playoffs.
