Tigers Trample Tribe, 48-15

North Allegheny led wire to wire in a dominant, 48-15, win over the North Hills Indians on Tuesday night. The Tigers poured in six 3-pointers in the first quarter and jumped out to a 20-3 lead en route to the section win. Junior Piper Morningstar paced the NA attack with 13 points and three 3-pointers on her way to Wright Automotive Player of the Game honors.

Seven Tigers scored points on the night, including junior Courtney Roman and sophomore Rachel Martindale who knocked down three 3-pointers each. Adding two free throws, Martindale finished with 11 points. In all, NA connected on 10 shots from beyond the arc while the Tigers’ defense limited North Hills to just 11-percent shooting from the field in a game that was never close.  The Tigers also commanded the glass, outrebounding the Indians, 44-18. Senior Hailey Zeise pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds and added seven points. For North Hills, Jordan O’Malley, Jessica Bowen and Anna Treser all scored five points each.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 13-1 overall and 4-1 in Section 1. North Hills slips to 6-8 overall and 1-4 in section play. The Tigers will visit the Altoona Mountain Lions on Friday night at 7:30 in a non-section affair.
