
Tigers Turn Back Trinity, 50-37
The top-ranked North Allegheny Tigers toppled the Trinity Hillers on Friday afternoon, 50-37, at the Penn Hills/Wright Automotive Holiday Tournament. Leading 32-26 after three quarters, the Tigers pulled away in the fourth by outscoring the Hillers, 18-11.

Sophomore Lizzy Groetsch paced the Tigers with 18 points, connecting on 9 of 9 from the free-throw line to help NA put the Hillers away late. Senior Rachel Martindale and freshman Taylor Rawls each netted 11 points and combined for five 3-pointers. Martindale was also named the tournament MVP for an outstanding two-day performance.
Trinity had two players in double figures, including sophomore Kaylin Venick who amassed a team-high 14 points. Senior Julia Chakos added 10 points.
North Allegheny remains unbeaten at 10-0 on the campaign. Trinity, from Class 5A, falls to 4-4 on the year. The Tigers will return to section play on Friday, Jan. 4 at 6:30 p.m. against the also undefeated Norwin Knights. The contest will be broadcast live via the internet by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
